Armstrong Ready to Take Points Race Down to the Wire in Homestead

No. 43 WinField Team Just Six Points Outside of 12th Place in Point Standings

With the season finale in Homestead just days away, Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 43 WinField team are ready to take the points race down to the wire. Last week in Phoenix, Armstrong was able to stretch his fuel over the final run and avoid the on-track issues his competitors had. The trouble free Top-20 finish allowed Armstrong to gain 12 points on the next two spots in the standing. The team has had good speed at the mile-and-a-half tracks this year and know this plays into their advantage needing a strong finish to jump up in the Championship Points Standings. Currently, Armstrong sits in 14th in the Championship Point Standings just four points outside of 13th.

Armstrong has a total of five starts at the track in different NASCAR racing series, including three starts in the XFINITY Series and two in the Camping World Truck. As an organization, RPM has four XFINITY Series starts at Homestead with an average finish of 20th. Their best effort was a 12th place finish in 2012.

“Homestead is one of the most fun tracks we race at. There’s a ton of drop off in the tire. You have all the excitement from it being the last race of the year. I’ve been fast here in the past but haven’t got the good finishes to show it. We’re in a tight points race in the driver and owners standings. We have to outrun our competitors by a handful of spots to meet our goals. If it’s anything like last week, we’ll have to push to the finish to make it happen. I plan on learning a lot over the weekend and leaning on my RPM teammate Aric Almirola who’s also running the race for some extra advice. It’ll be a great race, and hopefully, we’ll end the season with a good finish.”
