SMITHLEY SET FOR JD MOTORSPORTS DEBUT

HAMPTON, Ga. – Garrett Smithley will make his debut for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller in the Instalco Chevrolet No. 0 in Saturday’s Heads Up Georgia 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Smithley, 23, raced in the Xfinity Series last season at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Saturday’s race will be his first with JD Motorsports. He’ll also race in this weekend’s Camping World Truck Series event at the track.

“It’s always nice to go back to your roots, and this weekend is a huge homecoming for me,” Smithley, a native of nearby Peachtree City, said. “A year ago I made my NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut and to come back for a doubleheader weekend, at my home track, is an amazing opportunity. I’m thankful for JD Motorsports allowing me to take on these extra races and to my friends at MB Motorsports for giving me the extra track time and more races with them this season.”

Instalco is a commercial door and hardware installation service company based in the Nashville, Tenn., area. In addition to doors and hardware, its services include installation of Division 10 items as well as cabinets and finish trim. Established in 1996, Instalco services a variety of industries including hotels, elderly care facilities and office and apartment buildings in the Southeast, Midwest and the Carolinas.

Saturday’s race is the second of the season in the Xfinity Series.

“One of the many things that I have always enjoyed during my time as a team owner has been giving young drivers a shot at this great sport,” said team owner Johnny Davis. “Garrett has a lot of talent, and I’ve been very impressed by what he’s done in the past. I think this relationship will be beneficial to all of us.”

Practice is scheduled at AMS at 9 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 8:35 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 1:30 p.m.
