CHASTAIN RETURNS TO PIR

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Ross Chastain has fond memories of Phoenix International Raceway.

In 2013, Chastain came very close to victory lane in a Camping World Truck Series event, finishing a tight second. The race is one of four on his career worksheet at the one-mile track.

Chastain returns to PIR this weekend for Saturday’s Axalta 200 Xfinity Series race, the fourth event of the season.

“Obviously, Phoenix is a special place for me,” Chastain said. “To have run so well there in the past gives me confidence that I can do it again. It’s a driver’s track – fast but technical.”

Activities will begin at Phoenix Friday with Xfinity practice sessions scheduled at 11:30 a.m. (ET), 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Qualifying is scheduled at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 2:30 p.m.
