Brian Scott and the No. 44 Team Look to Build on Momentum in First Cup Start at Martinsville

Goody’s Mixed Fruit Blast Powder to Adorn Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

Brian Scott and the No. 44 Ford team are looking to build on the momentum from Scott’s season-best finish at Auto Club Speedway, when they head to Martinsville this weekend, where Scott will race in his first Cup Series race at the half-mile track. Scott earned a 12th-place finish in California before the off-weekend, which tied for his career-best finish in the Cup Series and was his best finish since the fall Kansas race last season. While Scott has never raced in the Sprint Cup Series at Martinsville Speedway, he has found some success in the Camping World Truck Series.

In six starts in the Camping World Truck Series at Martinsville, Scott has two Top-10 finishes and four Top-15 finishes. While he hasn’t raced at Martinsville since 2012, the No. 44 team is working hard to improve the short-track program at Richard Petty Motorsports and give Scott another Top-15 finish to improve his points in the Rookie of the Year standings.
For the first of two races, Goody’s and Goody’s Mixed Fruit Blast Powder will be featured on the hood of the No. 44 Ford Fusion this weekend in Martinsville. Goody’s Headache Powder temporarily relieves minor aches and pains due to headaches, arthritis, colds and fever. Scott will boast the Goody’s Mixed Fruit Blast flavor this weekend, which works fast like Goody’s but gives it a whole new taste.

Also this weekend, Scott will be presented his custom 2016 Petty’s Garage Ford GT King Premier Edition Mustang from “The King” Richard Petty. Following the presentation, media pace car rides will be available with Scott in the Petty’s Garage Mustang.

“I ran Martinsville in the Truck Series, but it’s been five or six years since I ran a race at Martinsville. It’s certainly an interesting track and a track that can test your patience, and it’s going to be a tough 500 laps at Martinsville. I don’t really have expectations going into it. I know how that race has gone historically in the past, but we’ll just see and write our own chapter when we get there. Even though Martinsville’s a difficult place, I feel like it’s pretty straightforward. You don’t have to go into the corner and worry about if your car is running wide open and if there’s a better line than the bottom. Short tracks are you drive as deep as you can in the corner, you get off the gas, you brake until you turn, then you work on getting the power down. I feel like it’s one of the easier places to adapt to.”
