McDOWELL AND CIRCLE SPORT-LEAVINE FAMILY RACING LOOK TO MAKE GAINS UNDER THE LIGHTS AT KANSAS SPEEDWAY

McDowell will pilot the No. 95 WRL General Contractors Chevrolet SS

CONCORD, N.C. (May 4, 2016) – Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing will strive to make improvements on its intermediate program this weekend with Michael McDowell behind the wheel of the No. 95 WRL General Contractors Chevrolet SS. The team will compete at Kansas Speedway in the second night race of the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regular season.

After a string of short track races and a strong run at Talladega Superspeedway last week, the No. 95 team and crew chief Dave Winston are looking forward to getting back to working on the team’s intermediate program.

“The majority of the races on our schedule are on 1.5-mile tracks similar to this and we did not come out of the box very strong on these tracks,” said Winston. “I feel like we have a lot of room for improvement and I fully expect to see some of that this week.”

McDowell agrees with Winston and is looking forward to working hard with the team at Kansas Speedway. With nine starts on the 1.5-mile tri-oval, McDowell has a best start of 23rd in 2012 and a best finish of 28th for Leavine Family Racing in 2014.

“We always have room for improvement at 1.5-mile tracks,” said McDowell. “Our team is continuing to grow and improve. We hope to make gains this weekend at Kansas so that it will carry over to Charlotte and the other intermediate tracks that are coming up on the schedule.”

Winston understands the challenges unique to Kansas Speedway, especially considering the team will practice during the day and race at night.

“Every time we come back to Kansas, the track changes, but bottom line is the driver that can stay in the gas the longest is going to have the most success,” he explained. “You also face major challenges when racing at night after doing all your practice in the daytime. The track will change and I will be paying a lot of attention to the Truck race to see what they fight.”

No. 95 sponsor WRL General Contractors, a Texas-based construction company, is currently involved with multiple projects around the Kansas City area.

The GoBowling 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kansas will take place on Saturday, May 7 at 7:30pm ET. Follow the team on Twitter for updates @CSLFR95.
