ADVANCE NOTES

Stenhouse Jr. at Charlotte Motor Speedway
The driver of the No. 17 Ford will try to race his way in to Saturday night’s All-Star race this Friday night in the Sprint Showdown. If he doesn’t race his way in, then he will rely on the fan vote to get in to the All-Star race.

Stenhouse has three Sprint Showdown starts and has advanced into one All-Star race.

Last year’s Sprint Showdown
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. maneuvered his Ford up in the top-five with 15 laps remaining in the second 20-lap segment before having to make an unscheduled pit stop for a loose wheel forcing Stenhouse to settle for a 23rd-place finish in the Sprint Showdown at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

On the Car
The No. 17 Fusion carries the Ford EcoBoost colors this weekend. Ford EcoBoost technology combines smaller overall size with turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing to bring customers outstanding performance and fuel economy.

Stenhouse Jr. on racing in the Sprint Showdown:

“We raced our way into the All-Star race in 2013 so hopefully we can do that again this year. We’ve been strong on the intermediate tracks so far this season so I feel confident we should be able to win one of the three rounds. We are all on an even playing field with the rule changes so hopefully we can get our Ford in the All-Star race.”

Sandler on racing in the Sprint Showdown:

“We have three chances on Friday night to advance into the All-Star race on Saturday so that’s our plan. The Sprint All-Star race is such a cool race due to all the fan excitement and energy plus a lot of family and friends are in attendance. NASCAR made some rule changes for this weekend so we will have to see how the changes may affect our cars. I’m confident with the speed we have shown lately that we can race our way into the main event on Saturday night.”
