Wallace Nets Top-10 Finish in the Motor City

BROOKLYN, MI. (June 11, 2016) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 LoudMouth Exhaust Ford Mustang, improved eight positions throughout the course of the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday afternoon to earn a ninth-place finish.

“It was a solid day for us really,” said Wallace after the race. “I’m really proud of my guy’s effort on this LoudMouth Exhaust Ford. We made a great turnaround from practice and it feels great to come away with a top-10 finish. We’ll take this and look to have another solid run next week in Iowa.”

Wallace began the 125-lap event from the 17th position and immediately moved forward from the drop of the green flag, improving six positions to 11th before the first caution on Lap 27. While under caution, crew chief Seth Barbour decided to make a strategy play for track position and called for right-side tires and fuel. The strategy worked as Wallace took the lap-32 restart from the third position.

The driver of the LoudMouth Exhaust Ford held on to his top-five track position for several laps before ultimately settling in to the ninth position as cars with fresher tires started to prevail over the long run. Wallace maintained his track position through a round of green flag pit stops on Lap 70, where he improved to eighth before the caution came out once again on Lap 79.

On the ensuing restart Wallace utilized a three-wide move on the outside to race into the top five and up to as high as fourth. The Roush Fenway Racing driver continued to race for position in the top five until a tight-handling condition began to affect the LoudMouth Exhaust Ford through the corner. This handling condition ultimately shuffled Wallace back to the ninth position during the three/quarter mark of the event.

In the closing stages, Wallace would hold off a charge from Brandon Jones to earn a ninth-place finish.
