ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Iowa Speedway

Ryan Reed has competed at Iowa Speedway five times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In June of this year, Reed finished 11th after starting in the same position. In this race last year, Reed finished 19th after starting 21st.

Reed also has one start in the ARCA Racing Series at Iowa, which came in July 2012. Reed finished in the ninth position after starting third.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association® representative and diabetes advocate Greg Robinson will ‘ride’ along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during this weekend’s race. The Urbandale, Iowa resident will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Ford Mustang.

Like Reed, Robinson lives with diabetes and knows the importance of managing his health to live a full life and influence those around him to do the same. Robinson developed type 2 diabetes 13 years ago while serving as the Superintendent of Urbandale Community Schools. Through his involvement in education, Robinson is active on the board of the American Diabetes Association of Central Iowa and in their Diabetes Busters program. The Diabetes Busters program was developed by professionals in the field of education, nursing, nutrition, physical education and fitness from the University of Iowa, the Iowa City School District and the American Diabetes Association to present information about diabetes to 4th graders in a fun and interesting way that engages students.

#Ride2Iowa16

A group of 20 Lilly Diabetes employees from around the country will meet at Iowa Speedway this weekend after completing a motorcycle ride from their respective hometowns to the racetrack. The group has nearly 85 collective years of experience helping patients with diabetes and is riding in support of the American Diabetes Association. The riders, along with Ryan Reed, will present a check to the American Diabetes Association on Saturday at Iowa Speedway to help with diabetes research and programs. Follow along with their journey by searching #Ride2Iowa16 on Twitter.

Reed in 2016

Reed is scored 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship standings after 18 races. He has led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 17th.

Indianapolis Recap

Reed and the No.16 team finished 13th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday in the Lilly Diabetes 250 after qualifying ninth and starting the 60-lap main event 15th.

Reed on Iowa

“Coming back to Iowa so soon after the last race at the track really has its advantages for our team,” said Reed. “We ran really well in June and still have the setup and track characteristics fresh in our memory bank. There’s not much better than short-track racing on a Saturday night and I can’t wait to get our No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang back on track.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Iowa Speedway on Saturday, July 30 at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN and MRN.
