SCOTT Products: “We’re so fortunate to have the best sponsors that support us and activate in our sport,” Allmendinger said. “SCOTT Products has a great message right now and we can apply it to the team. We’ve had such bad luck recently and SCOTT Products is all about #KeepOnGoing and that’s what we’re doing as a team. Indy (Indianapolis Motor Speedway) was tough because we had good speed in the car and were about to break into the top 10 when I lost water pressure, which killed our chances and put us in the garage. I was having fun out there until that happened. We were solid in practice and didn’t have the qualifying effort we wanted, but I felt we would have had a solid finish for Kroger, Kingsford, SCOTT Products and all our partners. Also, at Indy, the SCOTT® brand had a cool deal going with vloggers ‘That Reyes Family’ who joined us at the track for a pit stop in the midst of traveling across the country in an RV, trying to see how long one single roll of SCOTT 1000 bath tissue would last. I had an opportunity to spend time with the family and hang out with them. They were pretty cool. We wish them well on their road trip.”

Pocono Raceway: “I hope we can go there the way we ended the [last] race,” Allmendinger said. “It was probably the best Pocono car we’d ever had.”

Good speed: “I felt like we had top 10 speed the last time there,” Allmendinger said. “We made one mistake and it wasn’t even really a mistake. There was a piece of debris on the racetrack, and I tried to get to the pits before the caution came out and we got lapped. It just threw the rest of our race off. We never could get anything going after that. We were fortunate enough to get back up there and finish 16th. We had speed. We didn’t unload very well there but, I thought the stuff that we learned throughout the course of the weekend was good. We had good pace and hopefully we can unload and do the same thing there.”

Building on last Pocono outing: ‘We had a fast car the last time we raced at Pocono Raceway,” crew chief Randall Burnett said. “I wasn’t there for that one. Ernie (Cope, competition director) and the guys did a great job making the car good for that race. We kind of got behind on strategy at the end and didn’t get the finish we wanted out of it. We were better than where we finished. The car was really fast and AJ really liked the car. It’s kind of the same concept we went to Indy with and we had good speed. We’re looking forward to going back to Pocono Raceway and building on that setup.”

No rest for teams: “We are at Watkins Glen testing,” crew chief Randall Burnett said. “It’s a busy week for us. Obviously, the road crew guys are doing the Watkins Glen test right now for us and then we go straight to Pocono Raceway. It’s just really busy for the guys at JTG Daugherty Racing. Everybody is working really hard. We’re trying some things that we’ve been wanting to try for some road course stuff. We are also looking forward to going back to Pocono too.”
