ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Watkins Glen

Ryan Reed has competed at Watkins Glen International (WGI) twice in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. In 2014, Reed finished 12th after starting 28th. In this race last year, Reed finished 30th after starting 23rd and getting caught up in a late-race incident.

Reed also has one start in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at WGI. In 2014, Reed finished seventh after starting 20th.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association® representative and diabetes advocate Kevin Romer will ‘ride’ along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during this weekend’s race. The Trumansburg, N.Y. resident will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Ford Mustang.

Like Reed, Romer lives with diabetes and knows how important it is to manage his health through working with his doctor, diet and exercise. This weekend at WGI, he will have the opportunity to meet Reed and watch the race from atop the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association pit box. Romer and his wife are avid cyclers who have fundraised for and participated in three Upstate New York American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure® cycling events, with the Finger Lakes Tour de Cure on the books for later this month. Having taken control of his type 2 diabetes through diet and regular cycling and exercise, Romer has dropped his A1C, a measure of average blood glucose levels over a three- month period, from a 14.1 to an 9.3 in six months.

Reed in 2016

Reed is scored 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship standings after 19 races. He has recorded two top-10 finishes, led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 16.6.

Iowa Recap

Reed and the No.16 team finished 10th at Iowa Speedway on Saturday night after starting 14th and running inside the top 10 for the majority of the evening.

Reed on Watkins Glen

“The repave is going to be a huge factor this weekend, which we have already seen in the increase of speeds during the Cup test last week. I feel like Roush Fenway has really been working on the road course program and utilizing the simulator programs will help us this weekend. With a little luck, we should be able to continue momentum for another top-10 finish.”

Meet Reed

Reed will meet fans at the WGI Ford Display on Saturday, August 6th at 11:10 a.m. ET for a Q&A session.

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from WGI on Saturday, August 6th at 2 p.m. ET on CNBC and MRN.
