Austin Dillon Starts on the Pole and Earns Seventh-Place Finish Under the Lights at Richmond International Raceway

“I’m proud of this Ruud team. If someone would have asked me where I’d get my next pole, I definitely wouldn’t have thought Richmond, so that was pretty cool. The tires just didn’t come in as good after the first stop. We fired off pretty good, just a little loose on entry. Once the tires came in, the entry was better but we fought tight in the center. Justin (Alexander, crew chief) and the Ruud team fixed us up on the second stop, but it wasn’t quite enough. We had a car that could have won, but track position is everything here. The Ruud guys deserved better than a seventh-place finish.”

After Slow Start, Ty Dillon Battles Back for 14th Top-10 Finish of the Season

“This is what wins championships; battling back and making a bad day a good day. Our Bass Pro Shops Chevy started off the race really tight, we were on the splitter in the corners pretty bad. It took three pit stops but each pit stop we improved a lot. By the end of the race, on that last run, we were moving through the field pretty good. I was able to drive it up there to the fifth spot and compete for a top-10 finish. We’ll move onto Chicagoland, the last race before the Chase, and hopefully go win that thing.”

Brandon Jones Gains 10 Positions in the Roland Chevrolet to Finish 23rd

“Nights like tonight are why we love the new XFINITY Series Chase format. We got ourselves locked into the Chase last week, so that makes having a rough night like this a little bit easier to swallow. It is tough when you have nights like this, though. The guys dug hard on the No. 33 Roland Chevrolet all day long making adjustments and trying to get it dialed in. We will move past this, look at the positives and move on to Chicagoland Speedway to round out the regular season.”

Brendan Gaughan Battles to 18th-Place Finish at Richmond international Raceway

“We had a decent South Point Chevrolet during practice. Our qualifying effort could’ve been a top 12, however the handling we had in practice went away. We battled loose handling conditions during qualifying runs and throughout most of the race. Before the first pit stop, the car was a handful. Shane (Wilson, crew chief) took big swings at it to help the handling and got us to a better place. The long green-flag runs tonight didn’t help us. It limited our ability to work on the car as well as get our laps back. I’m proud of the job the boys did on pit road executing all of the changes. It’s obvious I’m not making things up when I say Richmond and I have a love-hate relationship. We will regroup after this tough day, and I look forward to moving on to Chicagoland and the inaugural XFINITY Series Chase.”
