Bayne Finishes 28th in Penultimate Event of 2016 Season

AVONDALE, Az. (Nov. 13, 2016) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 28th-place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday afternoon.

“Today was a long day,” said Bayne after the race. “We learned somethings for next season but for now it’s looking ahead to the last race of the season at Homestead and getting the best run that we can for everyone who has worked so hard all year long on our AdvoCare Ford.”

Bayne started the afternoon from the 26th position but was involved in an incident on the first lap of the event that sent the AdvoCare Ford for a long slide through the third and fourth corners. After pitting for four fresh tires Bayne returned to the track in the 34th position but drove up to 29th before the first round of green flag pit stops on Lap 80. An untimely caution just one lap after the stop trapped the Roush Fenway Racing driver off of the lead lap.

Despite being off of the lead lap, the Knoxville, Tenn. native continued to fight both ever-changing track conditions and a car that needed more forward drive on the exit of the corner throughout the middle portion of the event.

In the closing stages, Bayne utilized two attempts at NASCAR’s Overtime to take the checkered flag in the 28th position.

Next up for the NSCS is the 2016 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Sunday, Nov. 20.
