Brian Scott Set to Make Final NASCAR Career Start This Weekend

Safeway to Adorn Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

Brian Scott will be making his final NASCAR career start this weekend, after announcing his retirement prior to the race weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. Scott’s final start will come at the season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, in just his second start at the 1.5-mile oval in the Sprint Cup Series. Scott will retire from NASCAR racing following Sunday’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Scott has one start in the Sprint Cup Series at Homestead, finishing 28th. However, he found success in the XFINITY Series, with six starts and four Top-10 finishes. Scott finished as high as fourth last year in the final race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series. He also has three starts and three Top-15 finishes in the Truck Series, finishing as high as second in 2008.
Fans will have a unique opportunity to meet Scott and teammate Aric Almirola at the local South Florida Safeway in Oakland Park on Friday, November 18. The two drivers will compete in a grocery shopping cart race at the Safeway near Fort Lauderdale, teaming up with randomly-chosen customers to grab the most items in their cart and racing against a three-minute time period. The customer on the winning team will receive a gift card of the value of items in their cart. The event will be open to the public.

When: Friday, November 18 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
Where: Safeway, 950 NE 50th St, Oakland Park, FL 33334

Brian Scott will also make one final appearance at the Ford Display prior to the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday.

When: Sunday, November 20 from 10:35 – 10:50 a.m.
Where: Ford Display, Homestead-Miami Speedway Midway

“I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to drive for Richard Petty Motorsports this season, and I’m looking forward to ending the year on a high note at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Homestead is so unique in that it’s a true oval and doesn’t have a dogleg, so you really have to make a good turn getting into all four of the corners. I’ve had a lot of success in the XFINITY and Truck Series at Homestead, so I know if we’ve got speed off the truck that we will have a good chance at getting our No. 44 Safeway Ford to the front of the field.”

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneur Andrew Murstein, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports. With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields two teams in competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with drivers Aric Almirola and Brian Scott. Almirola will return to the iconic No. 43 Ford with partners Smithfield Foods, STP, United States Air Force and the “Fresh From Florida” campaign. Scott will make his debut with the team and drive the Petty Family No. 44 Ford. Albertsons Companies, Shore Lodge, Twisted Tea and GoBowling.com will join Scott as he competes for Rookie of the Year in his first full-time season in the Sprint Cup Series. The team is headquartered in Mooresville, N.C.
