Roval Recap: Denny Hamlin finished 12th in the first-ever Cup Series event at the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course last Sunday. Hamlin was required to start Sunday’s race from the tail end of the longest line after sustaining significant damage to his #11 FedEx Freight Toyota during Friday’s qualifying session which forced the FedEx Racing team to a back-up car. Hamlin started the final stage in sixth, but he fluctuated position as varying pit strategies played out among the 40-car field. Hamlin occupied the 21st spot when a multi-car wreck at the front of the field collected a number of the leaders, and the melee propelled the #11 FedEx Toyota to 13th for the final restart. He earned one position in the quick dash to the checkered.

Moving on to the Monster Mile: The Series returns to Dover International Speedway for Sunday’s 400-mile race around the ‘Monster Mile’. In 25 starts at the Delaware short track, Denny has secured 10 top-10 finishes, including five top-10 results in his last six appearances there. During his last visit to Dover in April, Hamlin battled his way to seventh after serving a penalty in the race’s first Stage for pitting for fuel while pit road was closed.

Delivering Laps for FedEx Cares: This season, FedEx is tying the performance of the #11 FedEx Toyota on the track to its efforts to improve road safety through a new program, Delivering Laps for FedEx Cares, by donating $111 for each lap Hamlin leads and $11,000 for each race victory to Safe Kids Worldwide, a nonprofit working to protect kids on the road, at home and at play. New for the 2018 season, the Denny Hamlin Foundation will also match the total donation to Safe Kids Worldwide.

After 29 total races this season, Hamlin has led 308 laps resulting in a $34,188 donation to Safe Kids Worldwide that will ultimately be matched by the Denny Hamlin Foundation. Fans can track the total amount donated to date from the Delivering Laps for FedEx Cares program on the homepage of fedexracing.com.

Hamlin Conversation – Dover:

What is your FedEx Racing’s team focus as you return to Dover and the seasons enters its final stretch?

“It’s obviously disappointing that our chance to contend for a Championship this season has ended, but in all honesty, our goals remain the same. We’re going to keep working hard to get us a win. There are many tracks still ahead where we’ve had success and know we can perform, so we’ll focus on what’s to come and doing the best we can to finish the season strong.”

FedEx Express TSSA Station in New York Along for the Ride at Dover: FedEx Express recognizes the company’s TSSA station in New York City by featuring the call letters “TSSA” on the #11 FedEx Express Toyota this weekend at the Monster Mile.
