Talladega Recap: Denny Hamlin finished fourth in Sunday’s 500-mile Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, battling his way to the front of the pack in the #11 FedEx Ground Toyota to collect his ninth top-five result of the 2018 season. A multi-car wreck on the race’s final, scheduled lap triggered a NASCAR overtime restart, and Hamlin lined up 10th for the ensuing two-lap shootout. Although Hamlin was immediately forced into a three wide, he fought for position and found a gap between the front-runners to secure a fourth-place finish behind race winner Aric Almirola, Clint Bowyer and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

Kansas Preview: With only five race remaining this season, the Series returns to Kansas for Sunday’s 267-lap event around the 1.5-mile tri-oval. Hamlin’s two most recent results at Kansas are a pair of fifth-place finishes, and in 20 starts at the speedway, he has collected six top-five and seven top-10 finishes along with a single win in 2012.

Delivering Laps for FedEx Cares: This season, FedEx is tying the performance of the #11 FedEx Toyota on the track to its efforts to improve road safety through a new program, Delivering Laps for FedEx Cares, by donating $111 for each lap Hamlin leads and $11,000 for each race victory to Safe Kids Worldwide, a nonprofit working to protect kids on the road, at home and at play. New for the 2018 season, the Denny Hamlin Foundation will also match the total donation to Safe Kids Worldwide.

After 31 total races this season, Hamlin has led 308 laps resulting in a $34,188 donation to Safe Kids Worldwide that will ultimately be matched by the Denny Hamlin Foundation. Fans can track the total amount donated to date from the Delivering Laps for FedEx Cares program on the homepage of fedexracing.com.

Hamlin Conversation –Kansas:

“We’re excited to keep the momentum going after a pair of top-five finishes, and Kansas is somewhere I think we can do that. I struggled a bit there (Kansas) after the repave, but obviously our results from our past couple of visits there show we’ve improved and can be competitive.”

FedEx Office’s Phoenix North District Along for the Ride at Kansas: The Phoenix North District will be recognized for being the leading district based on FedEx’s February August FY19 President’s Club rankings by having its district code “D37” on the b-post of the #11 FedEx Office Toyota this weekend at Kansas Speedway.
