TICKETGUARDIAN 500 FLYOVER TO FEATURE 61ST FIGHTER SQUADRON FROM LUKE AIR FORCE BASE

PHOENIX – ISM Raceway is proud to continue its tradition of a pre-race flyover courtesy of Luke Air Force Base at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series TicketGuardian 500 on Sunday, March 10.

Sunday’s flyover will feature two F-35 combat jets from the nearby Luke Air Force Base 61st Fighter Squadron. The jets will be flying over ISM Raceway at the end of “The Star Spangled Banner” performed by 2018 winner of “The Voice” Chevel Shepherd during pre-race ceremonies.

“We’re deeply honored to have the 61st Fighter Squadron perform the flyover prior to Sunday’s TicketGuardian 500,” said Julie Giese, ISM Raceway president. “The sight and sound of the F-35’s, which are based in our backyard at the prestigious Luke Air Force Base, will truly provide an exhilarating and memorable moment for everyone in attendance and the millions watching on FOX.”

The 61st Fighter Squadron, known as the “Top Dogs,” were the first F-35 squadron in the United States Air Force. The 61st fly F-35A aircraft to train instructor pilots and initial qualification pilots for Air Combat Command assignments. Luke Air Force Base has the largest F-35 wing in the world and houses 70% of the world’s F-35 pilots.
