ISM Raceway to Host 2020 NASCAR Championship Weekend, Bringing a New Championship Sporting Event to the Valley

Weekend will feature deciding races in all three NASCAR national touring series

PHOENIX – The Valley of the Sun will play host to a new championship sporting event as NASCAR announced today that the NASCAR Championship Weekend will be held at ISM Raceway, November 6-8, 2020, for the first time in the sport’s history. Featuring the deciding races for each of the three NASCAR national touring series, this exciting development was announced in a press conference today from ISM Raceway’s Gatorade Victory Lane, which included track president Julie Giese, NASCAR Vice Chairman Mike Helton and Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey.

“Hosting the NASCAR Championship Weekend in 2020 is an incredible opportunity for ISM Raceway, the West Valley and the entire Phoenix metropolitan area,” said Julie Giese, president of ISM Raceway. “This market has established itself as a sports and entertainment destination, hosting championship events across professional and amateur sports for years, and we are thrilled to add the NASCAR Championship to this long list of sporting events here in Arizona.”

The arrival of the NASCAR Championship in Arizona comes following the completion of the $178 million modernization project in 2018, which positioned ISM Raceway as one of the premier facilities on the NASCAR circuit, providing an unparalleled fan experience. ISM Raceway has been home to the penultimate race weekend on the NASCAR schedule since 2005.

“We are ecstatic to welcome NASCAR’s Championship Weekend to Arizona,” said Governor Doug Ducey. “As our state continues to welcome new residents and businesses, Arizona has proven to be the premier destination for the biggest events in all of sports, and today’s announcement adds to that reputation. We are grateful to NASCAR for choosing Arizona and ISM Raceway as the new home for their ultimate weekend and we look forward to welcoming more NASCAR fans from around the world to our state.”

In addition to the NASCAR Championship Weekend, November 6-8, 2020, ISM Raceway will also continue to host its annual Spring NASCAR TicketGuardian 500 Weekend, March 6-8, as the fourth race on the NASCAR schedule.

Tickets for the 2020 NASCAR Championship Weekend at ISM Raceway will go on sale at a later date. Fans that purchase tickets to the 2019 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Semifinal Race Weekend at ISM Raceway November 8-10 will receive the first opportunity for tickets to the 2020 NASCAR Championship Weekend. Tickets and INfield access are available at ISMRaceway.com, by phone at 1-866-408-RACE (7223), or in person at the ISM Raceway ticket office.
