Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series at Kansas Speedway… In 113 NASCAR Cup Series starts at Kansas Speedway, Richard Childress Racing has one win (Kevin Harvick, 2013) along with five top-five and 29 top-10 finishes. RCR’s lone victory at Kansas was Harvick’s first at the Midwest intermediate track and came in dominating fashion after winning the pole and leading the most laps in the race. RCR owns three poles at Kansas: Harvick (2013), Daniel Hemric (2019) and Tyler Reddick (2022).
Beyond the Cup Series… In addition to RCR’s NASCAR Cup Series win at Kansas Speedway with Kevin Harvick in 2013, the Welcome, N.C.-based race team has a win at the track in the ARCA Menards Series with Ty Dillon in 2010 and in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series with Harvick in 2006.
Building for the Future… RCR announced two key leadership appointments this week designed to strengthen the organization’s competition program, accelerate technological innovation and position RCR for long-term success as the company prepares for the 2027 NASCAR season and beyond. Richard Boswell, who has led Austin Dillon over the past two seasons as crew chief of the No. 3 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series, will take on a larger role with the race team as Vice President of Competition, a role he will fully assume at season’s end as he finishes out the current season as crew chief. Art Trejo has been appointed Director of Development and Innovation, a newly created position designed to enhance the company’s efforts to identify, develop and implement emerging technologies. These leadership additions give RCR the structure and expertise to continue evolving and highlight the organization’s focus on building a stronger foundation for sustained performance.
Catch Us On USA Network… The NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway will be televised live on Sunday, September 27 at 3 p.m. ET on USA Network. The live radio broadcast can be heard on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90. Saturday morning’s practice and qualifying sessions will be shown on truTV, beginning at 10 a.m. ET. Austin Dillon and the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/Winchester Magnum Pheasant Chevrolet at Kansas Speedway… Austin Dillon has made 26 NASCAR Cup Series starts at Kansas Speedway, with six top-10 finishes including a pair of sixth-place finishes in 2016. This past spring at Kansas Speedway, Dillon finished 16th after qualifying 20th. The North Carolina native has also made five NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts at the track, earning one pole award (2013) and a best finish of second (2012). In three NASCAR Truck Series races, Dillon has posted one pole award (2011) and a best finish of fourth (2014).
Did You Know… Dillon made his Cup Series debut at Kansas Speedway in October 2011, driving the No. 98 Chevrolet for owner Mike Curb.
A Record Start … This weekend at Kansas Speedway will mark Dillon’s 467th career Cup Series start for RCR. When he takes the green on Sunday, Dillon will surpass Kevin Harvick for second-most Cup Series starts of all time for the race team. Dale Earnhardt holds the most Cup Series starts for Richard Childress Racing with 529.

Winning Off The Track… Last weekend Dillon took on a daunting schedule, not only fulfilling his duties as driver of the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/Winchester Chevrolet for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, but also his role as General Manager of the Carolina Cowboys, in-person, for their annual Cowboy Days homestand in Greensboro, North Carolina. Flying back and forth from the track to North Carolina, Dillon was able to help lead his team for their games on Friday, when they beat the Oklahoma Wildcatters in commanding form, 261.3-87.6, but also on Sunday when the team beat the Arizona Ridge Riders in thrilling walk-off form, 88.7-88.35. Following their winning weekend, the Cowboys will have an off-week before returning to competition on Oct. 2-4 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Meet Dillon… Fans will have multiple opportunities to meet the driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet this weekend in Kansas. “My first NASCAR Cup Series start was at Kansas Speedway, so it’s a special place to me and I’ll always remember that. We get to go to Kansas twice a year, and it’s a really fun mile-and-a-half. Austin Hill and the No. 33 Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chevrolet at Kansas Speedway… Austin Hill has made one NASCAR Cup Series start at Kansas Speedway, coming behind the wheel of the No. 33 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in spring 2024. The 32-year-old has also competed in six NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series races at the Midwest facility, posting three top-five and four top-10 results. Hill’s best O’Reilly Auto Parts Series finish of third came in 2025.
Midwest Winner… Hill is a previous NASCAR Truck Series winner at Kansas Speedway, claiming the checkered flag in 2020. In addition, the Winston, Georgia native earned four top-five and five top-10 finishes in six Truck Series starts at the 1.5-mile asphalt oval.

“I personally like racing at Kansas, so hopefully we have a solid day in our Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen Chevrolet. I won there in the Truck Series, so I always have confidence going back. Then on the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series side, we have run well and had speed there even on off days. It’s a multi-groove racetrack that you can move around on – bottom, middle, top. You don’t have to run the fence to make speed, but it is something that you’ll probably need to do every now and again. It has a lot of unique characteristics with tire fall off while still being extremely fast, especially on fire off. The track is fast for a mile-and-a-half, and you have a lot of throttle time on fire off. You can also use the seams to your advantage to make the car drive a certain way. I like having that ability because that plays into my driving style.”
