Another Top-10 Finish for Buescher in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (Sept. 12, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Chris Buescher raced his No. 60 AdvoCare Ford Mustang to its 15th top-10 finish of the season Friday night under the lights in the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Richmond International Raceway. With the result, Buescher maintains the lead in the series point standings.

“That was a big improvement for our AdvoCare Mustang from where we were earlier this year. I am proud of the guys. They worked hard. That is what we needed to do, get a top-10 run. We kept up pretty good with the points and we will go on to the next one.”

The NASCAR XFINITY Series was held to just one practice on Friday afternoon, after rain cancelled the second scheduled practice of the day. Teams and drivers took to the track on Saturday afternoon for a three-round qualifying session. Buescher just missed the final round, starting the day in 13th.

Early in the race, Buescher set his sights on the top-10, breaking his way in by a caution on Lap 43. Due to the Friday afternoon rain storms, NASCAR called the Lap 43 caution period the competition caution for the field, which brought teams down pit road for the first scheduled stops of the day. A quick pit stop for four tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment gained Buescher two spots for the restart, lining up in eighth.

Later in the run, Buescher informed his team that at the start of the run his Mustang lacked grip, and was now too snug in the center. A caution on Lap 134 found Buescher on pit road again for four tires, fuel and another wedge adjustment.

Buescher’s pit crew picked up two more positions on pit road, putting Buescher in 10th for the restart. The sophomore in the NASCAR XFINITY Series was able to maintain his place in the top-10 during the ensuing green flag run.

The Prosper, Texas native spent the remainder of the race battling for position inside the top-10, ultimately crossing the line in 10th. With the result, Buescher maintains a 21 point lead over second place in the series point standings.
