AUSTIN DILLON QUOTE:
What do you think about Dover International Speedway?
“Dover International Speedway is one of the most fun tracks to race on. It’s one of those places you better be prepared for because every lap is driven as hard as you can. The laps don’t really fall off as far as pace. I really enjoy going to Dover every time.”
Paul Menard, No. 27 Knauf / Menards Chevrolet SS
Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Knauf/Menards Chevrolet SS at Dover International Speedway … Crew chief Justin Alexander has chosen chassis No. 454 for this weekend’s 400-mile event at the Monster Mile. This Chevrolet SS was previously raced this year at Bristol Motor Speedway in August (Start: 29 / Finish: 24), Pocono Raceway in June (Start: 16 / Finish: 31) and Bristol Motor Speedway in April (Start: 9 / Finish: 11).

Monster Mile Stats … In 16 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races at the one-mile track, Menard has completed 99 percent of laps in competition and finished in the top 10 three times. His best starting position of third came in October 2011 and finish of seventh in September 2010. He’s also competed in 10 NASCAR XFINITY Series events, with one top-five and four top-10 finishes.

About Knauf … Knauf Insulation is the fastest growing, and one of the largest insulation manufacturers in the world. Knauf was founded in the USA over 30 years ago. Everything they sell in the USA is made in the USA. Add insulation to your home and purchase Guardian by Knauf Insulation at your local Menards store.

Knauf Insulation’s certified formaldehyde-free products are more interior friendly than older, more traditional insulation products.
Rookie Stripe … Alexander has impressive stats in his first year as a full-time Sprint Cup Series crew chief. In 32 races with Menard, Alexander has led the team to one top-five, 14 top-15 and 21 top-20 starts. He’s also collected 23 top-20, 19 top-15 and three top-five finishes. Alexander is the first three-time winner of the MOOG Problem Solver of the Race award this season. He’s also led Menard to his first-career berth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

#MenardNation … The No. 27 Chevy team is tied for 13th, just one point away from 12th, in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings heading into this weekend’s event at the Monster Mile.

Last Time in Dover … Earlier this year in Dover, Menard earned his third top-10 finish of the season after starting 18th. The Justin Alexander-led team fixed a tight-handling Chevy before the halfway point of the event. With a better handling car, Menard raced his way through the field and crossed the finish line eighth.

PAUL MENARD QUOTE:
Dover International Speedway is fast and furious. What’s the key to getting around the Monster Mile?
“It’s a really fun track to drive. You get a great sensation of speed there. I find the toughest part is the first one-third of the corner. The car is going through a huge load as you drive downhill into the corner and as the car first compresses, then decompresses, it changes how the tires load and can get pretty unpredictable. It’s very hard to hit right. The groove generally opens up throughout the race, but getting the car in the corner so you can get out of the corner is pretty tough.”

Ryan Newman, No. 31 Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS
Race Notes and Quotes

This Week’s Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS at Dover International Speedway … Ryan Newman will drive chassis No. 504 on Sunday at the Monster Mile. This Chevrolet was utilized earlier this season at Auto Club Speedway (Start: 9/Finish: 5), Texas Motor Speedway (Start: 7/Finish: 12), Dover International Speedway (Start: 17 /Finish: 18), Kentucky Speedway (Start: 26 /Finish: 20) and fall Bristol Motor Speedway (Start: 18/Finish: 10).

Career Stats at the Monster Mile … Newman will make his 505th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start when the series competes at the high-banked, one-mile oval. In 27 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events, Newman has three victories to his credit including a Dover sweep in 2003 and a win in the fall of 2004. The “Rocket Man” also owns three pole awards. In total, he owns six top-five and 13 top-10 finishes. Also, he has led 848 laps in competition. The South Bend, Ind., native has an average start of 9.6 and average finish of 13.6.

Engineered to Amaze … Detroit-based Quicken Loans Inc. is the nation’s second largest retail home mortgage lender. The company closed $140 billion of mortgage volume across all 50 states in 2013-2014. Quicken Loans generates loan production from web centers located in Detroit, Cleveland and Scottsdale, Arizona. The company also operates a centralized loan processing facility in Detroit, as well as its San Diego-based One Reverse Mortgage unit. Quicken Loans ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Primary Mortgage Origination” in the United States by J.D. Power for the past five consecutive years, 2010 – 2014, and highest in customer satisfaction among all mortgage servicers in 2014.

Quicken Loans was named among the top-30 companies on FORTUNE magazine’s annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the last 12 consecutive years, ranking No. 12 in 2015. It has been recognized as one of Computerworld magazine’s ‘100 Best Places to Work in IT’ the past ten years, ranking No. 1 in 2014, 2013, 2007, 2006 and 2005. The company moved its headquarters to downtown Detroit in 2010, and now more than 10,000 of its nearly 12,000 team members work in the city’s urban core. For more information about Quicken Loans, please visit QuickenLoans.com, on Twitter at @QLnews, and on Facebook at Facebook.com/QuickenLoans.

Cut to the Chase … Newman enters the final event in the Challenger 16 Round sixth in points. He is just 25 points out of the top spot in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.

Last Time at Dover … Earlier this season, Newman started 17th and had plenty of speed for a top-10 effort. An unscheduled stop under green-flag conditions on lap 247 dropped the No. 31 Chevrolet to the 26th position. As the laps wound down, the Caterpillar driver found himself battling for a top-20 finish. A late-race caution set the field up for a green-white-checkered finish. Newman restarted 22nd and passed four cars on his way to an 18th-place finish.

RYAN NEWMAN QUOTES:
What is the key to running well at Dover International Speedway?
“Dover is manhandling a racecar for 400 times for 400 laps. The high-banked concrete is entirely different in comparison to the surfaces we raced in the first two events in the Challenger 16 Round. It’s always such a physical track. It is challenging because of that. But during my entire career, if you get Dover right from the very first lap, you can keep it right. It doesn’t change a whole lot so just being able to be repetitive enough … if you are good in qualifying, and good on the quick lap, it typically stays with you.”

What is your goal for the remainder of The Chase?
“We are here to win and it’s been awhile for me, but regardless of the 70-plus race dry spell, we are here to win each and every race we compete in. We are here to do the best job we possibly can. If we do the best job we possibly can, we still might get beat, but we also might be victorious.”

Kentucky Race Rewind … Scott and the No. 2 Shore Lodge Chevrolet team qualified on the outside pole for the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway. Scott led 49 laps during the scheduled 200-lap XFINITY Series event and ran inside the top-five for two-thirds of the race before contact was made with another competitor on the lap 126 restart. The incident created a vibration in the No. 2 machine forcing them to pit road under green-flag conditions, falling one lap short to the leader. The team raced to get back on the lead lap and restarted 19th with 29 laps to go. The 28-year-old made up six positions in the closing laps to bring home a 13th-place finish in the Series 27th race of the season.

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:
Does Dover feel like a giant Bristol Motor Speedway to you?
“It does. I was really encouraged with how we ran at Bristol. It was the most competitive we’ve been at Bristol in a while. I feel like some of the things we learned and tried at Bristol will hopefully translate over really well to Dover and will improve our performance a little bit there too.

How does the rubber being laid down on the track vary at a concrete track?
“There are a lot of things that change with a concrete racetrack. They are really temperature sensitive, rubber sensitive, and rubber has different patterns on how it lays down and how it picks up, depending on the condition of the race. You just have to always be on top of those things. I feel like I have a lot of experience at Dover and, hopefully, I can help lead my team because of that.”

What can we expect this weekend in Dover?
“We finished eighth in Dover earlier this year, but actually had a car good enough to finish inside the top five. Fuel mileage came into play last time, so I think if we have a good strategy on pit road and build on the speed we had in May, we’ll be looking at another strong finish.”
