No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet News and Notes

First Trip to The Monster Mile…  Cale Gale will make his first career start at Dover (Del.) International Speedway (“The Monster Mile”) on Friday, June 1.  Dover International Speedway is unique for several reasons, but one of the most noticeable differences is the track’s concrete surface.  The one-mile oval is one of only two concrete tracks that the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) competes on throughout the year.  Despite having his first meeting with The Monster Mile this weekend, Gale will be able to draw from his 2,000-plus laps of experience on other concrete ovals, including Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway and Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway.

Meet Cale Gale…  Fans will have several opportunities to meet Cale Gale during the weekend at Dover International Speedway.  Stop by the Chevy Stage at 12:10 p.m. on Friday afternoon to ask Gale all of your NCWTS questions.  The driver of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet will answer fans’ most pressing questions before heading over to the NCWTS Autograph Session to sign some autographs and pose for photos.  Gale will join several other NCWTS drivers for the one-hour autograph session at the Camping World Display in the Dover Fan Zone at 12:30 p.m. ET.  Gale will make one last public appearance at the VELOCITY Suite before climbing into the cockpit of the Rheem Chevrolet.  Fans with tickets to the VELOCITY Suite will be able to meet Gale, get photos and autographs during his 3:15 p.m. appearance.

The No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet Supports Autism Speaks…  Cale Gale will join countless other drivers in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series and NCWTS to raise awareness for autism this weekend at Dover International Speedway.  Gale will be one of 13 NCWTS drivers to sport an Autism Speaks decal on his truck.

Gale Takes Center Stage on The Setup…  While in Mobile, Ala. for the inaugural Mobile ARCA 200, Cale Gale showed the crew from SPEED’s NCWTS Setup around his hometown.  After rain in Martinsville postponed the original airing of this segment, fans will finally be able to see Gale’s rookie profile prior to the Dover NCWTS race.  With stops at Gale’s alma mater, a local race-parts store and a former car owner and sponsor, a few funny tales about Gale’s past are sure to arise along with some great memories of growing up racing along the Gulf Coast. Set your DVR for this special piece about the driver of the No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet!  NCWTS Setup from The Monster Mile airs at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday, June 1.

Race for the Sunoco Raybestos Rookie of the Year…  With the first five races complete, Gale is currently ranked third in the Sunoco Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings.  He sits just 10 points outside of second place, and 35 points behind leader Ty Dillon.

Watch and Listen…  On Friday, June 1, the NCWTS will roar into Dover International Speedway for round six of the 2012 season.  Fans can tune in to SPEED for NCWTS qualifying from The Monster Mile at 10:00 a.m. ET.  Race coverage of the Lucas Oil 200, an afternoon race, will be broadcast live on SPEED, MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio, channel 90, at 4:30 p.m. ET with a replay scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday, June 1.

From the Driver’s Seat

Cale Gale Quotes… On racing at Dover International Speedway:  “I don’t really know what to expect this weekend–it’s a brand new track for me.  I will need to take some time in the Rheem Chevrolet just to learn the track-learn the best line, figure out my marks, all those things that come with running somewhere for the first time.  That being said, I am really excited to race the Rheem Chevrolet this weekend.  I’ve been to Dover several times and I’ve always enjoyed watching the races there.  It’s a really neat track; I’m looking forward to finally having the opportunity to compete there.”

On getting the 2012 season revved up:  “I’m happy that we’ve finally reached the point in the NCWTS season where we’re racing every week or every other week.  I feel like the Rheem team will benefit from being able to get in the rhythm of going to the track every week instead of having two or three weeks off after each event.  It’s a lot easier to bounce back from an off-race when you’re headed to the track the next week.  As a team we’re able to continue learning and building our programs when we’re at the track every week-there are just so many benefits to consistently racing.  I think you’ll be able to see continued growth and improvement from the Rheem team as the season gets going.”

On finding a home at Eddie Sharp Racing:  “It’s been really nice being with ESR this season.  Eddie [Sharp] and Jerry [Baxter, crew chief] have both been very consistent working with me and guiding me to help me get familiar with the trucks.  I’m very fortunate that I have a team that is 100 percent behind me and an amazing sponsor in Rheem. Knowing that I have a team that believes in me and sponsor who wants to support me, it’s a great feeling.  It’s awesome going to the track and getting into the truck knowing that I have all that support behind me.”

From the Pit Box

Jerry Baxter Quotes… On what to expect in Dover:  “Cale is completely new to Dover.  He’s never been on the track before.  It’s an extremely fast track that will take whatever you give it.  Our first priority is getting Cale comfortable in the truck and confident on the track.  We want him to drive it as hard as it will go.  We’ll spend time in practice just letting him log laps and get comfortable before we worry about making shock or spring changes to fine-tune the setup like we normally do.  The track is similar to Bristol, but it’s so much faster.  Cale has had a lot of success at Bristol in the past, so we’re hoping to draw on that too.”

On preparing for 200 miles at The Monster Mile:  “The truck that the Rheem team will be racing in Dover is new to ESR for 2012.  The chassis came from KHI, and we took it to the wind tunnel a few weeks ago before testing with it at Nashville Superspeedway.  While we haven’t raced the chassis yet, Cale was very happy with it by the end of the test.  I think it will be a good weekend.”
