NASCAR is in for a double treat in 2020. Already, the sport’s announcement of its return to on-track competition in mid-May is leaving the drivers, the teams and the fans excited amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
For the first time since 1981, a NASCAR season will feature three points-paying races at a single track as the sport strives to make up the lost time of on-track racing.
The 2021 Cup Series champion from Elk Grove, California, led eight of 167 over-scheduled laps and prevailed in two overtime attempts to win the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis for the first time in his career.
The 30-year-old Wallace from Mobile, Alabama, led 26 of 167 over-scheduled laps, won the second stage and finished in fifth place for his fourth top-five result of the 2024 season and gain 20 points towards making the 2024 Playoff cutline at the Brickyard.
On Sunday, Larson stood triumphantly on Victory Podium and kissed the fabled Yard of Bricks after completing a wild climb to an overtime victory in the Brickyard 400 presented by PPG.
The victory marks Larson’s fourth trip to victory lane in NASCAR’s top division in 2024 – making the 31-year-old Elk Grove, California, native the winningest driver in the series this season.
