“Obviously we would like to be winning but that’s three podiums in the last four road and street course races, and three in the past five overall for the Steak ‘n Shake team so I’m pretty proud of where we are at. I want to thank Honda for all the hard work they are putting in. The fuel mileage was really good there at the end. I would have like to have seen the race run full distance because I heard Bourdais was tight on fuel and we were definitely good."

It marked the six-time Cup champion’s 74th career win and was his fourth win at the 13-race mark of the 2015 season. It was also the fifth consecutive victory for Chevrolet at the ‘Monster Mile’. Johnson led a contingent of eight Chevy SS drivers in the top 10 finishing order at the one-mile concrete track.

Trent Owens and the guys made really good adjustments on the car and got it better and better. Finally we weren’t the lucky dog, we raced and stayed on the lead lap and when the caution came out we got a chance to restart with the leaders."
