More than 2,750 miles separate Michael Waltrip Racing’s race shop and Sonoma Raceway. It will take the NASCAR Sprint Cup team’s two race haulers at least 40 hours to drive non-stop from North Carolina to reach the gates of the California road course.

For someone who grew up racing motorcycles and sliding around in dirt cars it is somewhat surprising that Sonoma Raceway ranks as one of Clint Bowyer’s best tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit.

Bayne will make his first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Sonoma Raceway this weekend.

Biffle has finished on the lead lap in 11 of his 12 starts at the road course. He ran out of fuel in his first career start at Sonoma.

After a weekend off, the No.32 Go Green Racing team will head west to Wine Country for Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at the Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, CA with Boris Said. This weekend's event will mark Said's 50th career start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) and his 16th start at the 1.99-mile road course.

Sam Hornish Jr. will have a new look on the No. 9 Ford at Sonoma Raceway this weekend. After a much appreciated off-weekend, Aric Almirola and the No. 43 Nathan's Famous Ford team are ready to tackle the first road course race of the season. The team will head to the 10-turn Sonoma Raceway and compete to stay on the Chase Grid and work their way back into the Top-10 in Championship Points.

Richard Childress Racing in Wine Country ... In 58 starts at the 10-turn stadium course, Richard Childress Racing owns two wins, with Dale Earnhardt in 1995 and Robby Gordon in 2003, one pole award (Earnhardt 1995), 14 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes. The Welcome, N.C.,-based team has led 137 laps at Sonoma, completed 6,234 of the 6,280 laps contested (99.3 percent) and recorded just one DNF (Did Not Finish) through that stretch (1989-2015).

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series hits the road this weekend for the first of two road course races this season. Sonoma Raceway plays host to Sunday’s Toyota SaveMart 350 in which Ford is the defending winner. Here is a look closer look at Ford’s history on the 12-turn track.
