NASCAR Cup Series

In just the third race of the season, there were a plethora of firsts and lasts, from Jeff Gordon running his last ever race at Vegas to Brian Vickers starting his first race since open heart surgery and Kevin Harvick standing in Victory Lane for the first time ever at LVMS.

Kevin Harvick must have been tired of finishing second, because on Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion did something about it.

Martin Truex Jr. came on strong to finish second in Sunday's Kobalt 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The runner-up result gave Truex his third straight top-10 and moved him from fifth to fourth in the driver point standings. It was also his best finish since joining Furniture Row Racing following the 2013 season.

Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, came home with a 28th-place finish on Sunday afternoon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

After making slight contact with the outside wall causing fender damage to his Fastenal Ford and hitting a loose tire on pit road, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. battled back to take the checkered flag in the 29th position in Sunday’s race at Las Vegas.

Greg Biffle drove his No. 16 Cheez-It Ford Fusion to a 14th-place finish Sunday afternoon at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Biffle started 16th and searched for front turn most of the race, but continuously logged solid lap times, even held off a hard charging race leader to finish on the lead lap. The 14th-place finish moves Biffle up to 11th in the point standings.

Determined pit work and steady driving by Ryan Blaney put the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion into the top 20 for the first time in the young 2015 season with a 19th-place finish in the Kobalt 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Denny Hamlin (​fifth) was the highest-finishing Toyota driver in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, an event won by Kevin Harvick.

DALE EARNHARDT, JR. NO. 88 NATIONWIDE CHEVROLET SS - FINISHED 4TH: WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR CAR? "I got really loose. I had a real bad vibration on that last run and I was really, really loose. We've been running the track bar pretty much even the whole race, and at the end there I had it down three inches on right side trying to save my butt. Maybe it was worn-out lefts, I don't know. The left side (tires) is new and a little softer compound maybe we just took it a little bit too far."

JOEY LOGANO, No. 22 Pennzoil Platinum Ford Fusion (Finished 10th) – “That was a poorly executed race on my behalf. I didn’t do a good job. I did a good job of screwing up anytime I could. The speeding on pit road – I found that. I put us in a hole. Not that we were going to win the race either way because we weren’t fast enough but I maybe cost us two or three positions with what I did. I don’t know. We have some work to do. I have work to do with myself first and then we have work to do with the car too.”
