We learned a lot at Bristol on Saturday night. We learned that there might be some bashed fenders. Okay, we already knew that. Kyle Busch learned it as well as anyone else.

1. Jeff Gordon: Gordon started second at Bristol but encountered handling issues that left him mid-pack for much of the race. He finished 16th, one lap down, and leads the Sprint Cup points standings by 27 over Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Ty Dillon will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the No. 33 Realtree/Rheem Chevrolet SS for Circle Sport Racing. Dillon, who is competing full time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this season in the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro, will have Nick Harrison as his crew chief for Sunday's Oral-B USA 500.

Praised for his patriotism and his service to the community, NASCAR Hall of Famer "The King" Richard Petty was presented The American Legion's James V. Day "Good Guy" Award during the organization's 96th annual national convention today.

The Atlanta Motor Speedway will welcome Nickelodeon’s iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) for its NASCAR Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29-31, 2014. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo will bring their fast-action, high-adventure style of fun to the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series for a weekend of family entertainment, including two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-themed cars, which will be driven by Nationwide Series driver Chris Buescher and Sprint Series driver Michael McDowell.

Richard Childress Racing teammates Paul Menard, Ryan Newman and Austin Dillon finished ninth, 13 and 28th, respectively.
