Seventy five point penalty and nothing. No meaningful consequences, not even a dip in the standings. When Denny Hamlin’s car got tagged for leaving the covers on the rear firewall loose in order to leak high pressure air from under the car into the cockpit, something they were told not to do going into Indianapolis, NASCAR came down hard. Well, sort of.

One of the biggest announcements of the Brickyard 400 weekend was that Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards would not be returning to the stable in 2015. In my honest opinion, this was beyond unprofessional by Jack Roush, especially on the morning of the fifth and final major of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

Roush Fenway Racing announces that legendary NASCAR driver Mark Martin is returning to the race team where he excelled behind the wheel for almost 20 years - this time as the team’s driver development coach. Martin was the first driver hired by team owner Jack Roush when he founded his NASCAR operation in 1988.

The United States ice dancing team of Meryl Davis and Charlie White will serve as the grand marshals for the Pure Michigan 400 on August 17 at Michigan International Speedway.

This weekend at Pocono Raceway local ABC television affiliate WNEP, based in Wilkes-Barre Scranton area, will have sport anchor Sharla McBride join Chip Ganassi Racing Teams as a member of the No.1 crew. McBride will join the team for a behind-the-scenes experience and in-depth access to encounter life as a NASCAR team member.

Roush Fenway Racing today announced that it has extended its partnership with Zest and the No. 17 Ford Fusion driven by two-time NASCAR champion Ricky Stenhouse Jr., into the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season. Zest first joined Roush Fenway in 2012 and has served as a primary partner on the No. 17 Ford in NSCS competition the past three seasons.

1. Jeff Gordon: Gordon blew past Kasey Kahne on the final restart with 17 laps to go and cruised to his record fifth Brickyard 400 win. It was his second win of the season and strengthened his lead in the Sprint Cup points standings.

"I can't wait to get to Pocono [Raceway]. Each corner is very unique and the rough surface and bumps are always a little more prevalent each time we go there. With this being my second time there, I can really focus on getting the car tuned to the track now that I've been able to adjust to it as a driver in a Sprint Cup car.

Crew chief Greg Ives will rejoin Hendrick Motorsports following the 2014 NASCAR season to lead the No. 88 Sprint Cup Series team of driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.

"Last time at Pocono was my first time ever seeing the place and we finished in the top 20. If I learned anything it was that restarts are extremely important there. That front stretch is so wide that it allows for a lot of passing options. We know we'll have a good car, so now we'll try to take advantage of what the track offers."
