NASCAR Cup Series

Since Haas F1 was given permission to join Formula 1 in April starting in 2015 (Later delayed to 2016), there has been constant speculation and rumor that Haas F1 is going to hire a current NASCAR driver, specifically one Danica Patrick, to drive one of their two cars in Formula 1.

While the luck of the Irish hills was bestowed on the driver who made his way to Victory Lane for the first time ever in Michigan, here is what was surprising and not so surprising in the 46th annual Quicken Loans 400.

Jimmie Johnson finally beat Michigan International Speedway. "We've figured out every way to lose this race." Johnson remarked in victory lane, "We finally figured out how to win one." The victory was Johnson's third in four weeks and his 69th career victory. Johnson held off pole sitter Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski for the win after a four tire stop on the final pit sequence. Johnson lead 39 of the 200 laps.

Brad Keselowski’s schedule alwayshas a circle around his home track, Michigan International Raceway, a venue where victory has continually eluded him, making this weekend’s Quicken Loans 400 a distinctive race, as he yearned for his first win at the track where he grew up as a spectator.

Martin Truex Jr.’s reprieve from a plethora of bad luck was short lived as the Furniture Row Racing driver found himself in a Lap 8 multicar accident in Sunday’s Quicken Loans 400 Sprint Cup Series Race at Michigan International Speedway.

JOEY LOGANO – No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Ford Fusion – “Going into today I didn’t think our car was gonna be very good, but Todd made some good changes overnight and made us more competitive. We seemed to have some good restarts all day, except for the last one, which is the most important one. We got the run we needed and then got loose and got stuck in the middle of three-wide and lost all the air in the car and lost my momentum so I went back a little bit."

Clint Bowyer (10th) was the first Camry driver to the finish line in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Michigan International Speedway.

Homestead-Miami Speedway announced that Ford Motor Company has extended its partnership to host Ford Championship Weekend for the next five years with an option to renew for an additional five years. Matt Becherer, president, Homestead-Miami Speedway and Joe Hinrichs, executive vice president and president of the Americas, Ford Motor Company, made the announcement in the infield media center at Michigan International Speedway this morning.
