Under surprisingly blue skies with no rain in sight, here is what else was surprising and not surprising from the 33rd annual Pocono 400 at Pocono Raceway in the mountains of Pennsylvania.

Pocono has a great name, a long tri-cornered track, but visually the action there is not exactly stimulating. To paraphrase Stacy Musgraves, round and round they go, but trash on the grill really blows.

Tickets to NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race – the 57th annual DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, Feb. 22 – will go on sale Tuesday, June 10 at 9 a.m. (ET). Tickets for the DAYTONA 500, won earlier this year by Dale Earnhardt Jr. for his second career victory in “The Great American Race,” start at $65.

Thanks to the outpouring of fans across the country, the memory of Lynda Petty, wife of NASCAR legend Richard Petty, will live on. The Petty Family Foundation today announced that through numerous and generous donations in memory of Mrs. Lynda Petty, the family has chosen four organizations to make monetary donations.

“They're the 48 and we're the 88 and I don't want to be the new 48. I want to be the new 88. We'll definitely try to continue to work hard and try to win some more races and try to leave our own mark and not a mark similar to anyone else.”

Dale Earnhardt Jr. may not have dominated the Pocono 400 race, but he was the one who took his No. 88 National Guard Chevrolet to Victory Lane after Brad Keselowski succumbed to trash on his grille and overheating issues.

Martin Truex Jr. scored his second straight top-10 finish by securing a ninth-place result in Sunday’s Pocono 400 Sprint Cup Series race.
