The Series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway for Saturday night’s Sprint All-Star Race at the 1.5-mile oval. Hamlin will make his eighth All-Star appearance in the #11 FedEx Express Toyota, a non-points event reserved for 2013 and 2014 race winners, previous NASCAR champions and former All-Star Race winners.

After a three-year absence from the Sprint All-Star Race, Martin Truex Jr. returns to the prestigious event, which will be contested Saturday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Fans at Charlotte Motor Speedway for Friday night’s Sprint Showdown and North Carolina Education Lottery 200 Camping World Truck Series Race will have the chance to meet the biggest stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series during a special Sprint All-Star autograph session at the legendary 1.5-mile superspeedway.

Showdown: “It is always interesting and a fun race and this weekend we are proud to have Freighliner and Miller on board,” Allmendinger said. “We will go out there in practice and I think it will be the same thing we have seen at a lot of these mile-and-a-half tracks. I think our first practice is around noon or so. Our first time out, there will be a ton of grip on the track and we will be flying around that place.

Jeff Gordon: Gordon took the lead with eight laps to go and held off the hard-changing Kevin Harvick to take the checkered flag at Kansas. It was Gordon’s first win this season and third career win at Kansas Speedway.

There are three major stars in NASCAR’s constellation of drivers. They are simply called Jimmie, Junior, and Jeff, and few could argue that this trio has shone the brightest. Jimmie Johnson has six championships, including five in a row.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series plays a couple of home games over the next two weeks as the series occupies Charlotte Motor Speedway. This weekend’s non-points paying All-Star Race features a qualifying race, a fan vote and a unique format to decide who walks home with $1 million.

No. 55 Aaron’s Dream Machine driver Brian Vickers is one of 22 drivers who will battle in Saturday’s 30th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Vickers earned his entry into the event by winning at New Hampshire in July.
