I thought we had decent speed at times and then we were leading at one point and the yellow flag came and we pitted and came out ninth which ended our shot of being able to derail Jimmie if there even was one. His car was so much faster than the field. It was pretty embarrassing to be quite honest. That is the way it goes and we will work to get better.”

Farmland has announced a $20,000 donation to Tarrant Area Food Bank serving Ft. Worth, Texas, as part of an expanding effort by the company to raise awareness of hunger issues around the country. Today's announcement follows more than $215,000 in donations in Phoenix; Las Vegas; Fontana, Calif.; Sonoma, Calif.; and Kansas City, Mo., earlier this year as part of Farmland's partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports to promote hunger awareness in race communities

Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole position for the AAA Texas 500 during Friday's Pinnacle Propane Qualifying Days at Texas Motor Speedway.

CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion – TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING LAP. “If I had known we would be that fast I would have shaved. The guys have worked so hard. This is all about the guys. This was one of our tracks to test and the guys came out here and sat for days in the rain trying to get some laps in and finally we got to come out here the week after that and tested for three days and I think we were the last team to load up and go home. My guys put in a lot of hard work. I don’t think the lap was that spectacular from a driving standpoint and I messed up off turn two but turns three and four were great and we got the pole so that was a lot of fun. It is so neat to get a pole and the guys brought us to victory lane and we got to celebrate and that is a lot of fun. It is a big day for us.”

Five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) champion Jimmie Johnson turned in the third fastest qualifying time for Sunday's AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 Snickers Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Starting Position: 5th - How was the qualifying lap? "I thought it was really good. I felt like I got through (turns) one and two amazing. Didn't want to over-shoot turns three and four, so gave up a little bit down there, b ut felt like I got back to it good and made a good effort to run the fast time there."

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET SS – QUALIFIED THIRD - ON HIS QUALIFYING LAP: "I think the lap time was reasonable; we're just not sure where it will be. But, you saw the effort needed to keep it off the fence. It's slippery out there; it is going to be a challenging qualifying session. We went faster than we did in practice, so hopefully that is a good sign and we can keep the 48 up top. But, a challenging lap for the Lowe's Chevrolet."

CARL EDWARDS, No. 99 Aflac Ford Fusion (Qualified 1st) – “This is huge. My guys did a great job. We had a test here and the guys spent six days here with three days being rained out and we came back the next week and this is just cool. This is so awesome. That was Jimmy Fennig and all the guys at the shop and the engine department. My guys worked so hard here on the test. I think we were the last people to leave the race track that test and the guys worked really hard and it paid off today. It is awesome for Aflac and Ford and all of us. I have wanted the pole here so badly for so long, it is just really cool.”
