Kyle Busch’s day was nearly spoiled on Sunday afternoon at Talladega when he sped on pit road and went a lap down before halfway. Then after carnage in turn three on the final lap, Busch was nearly the spoiler of the Chase, coming out of the smoke to finish third.

Jeff Gordon skillfully maneuvered his No. 24 Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet through last lap carnage to emerge from the smoke in the runner-up position of the Good Sam Roadside Assistance 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Camry driver Kyle Busch (third) was the first Toyota racer to the finish line in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Alabama's Talladega Superspeedway.

When Regan Smith drove his car to the garage after Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, it would have been hard for anyone to imagine that he just posted his best finish of the season, bringing home a fifth-place result in a wild and frenetic ending at Talladega Superspeedway.

Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag for the 23rd time in his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career and first time at Talladega Superspeedway with today’s win.

We restarted the green-white-checkered in 28th, picked up a bunch of spots (12) on the first lap and then came the wreck. We were involved in the melee and had major damage to the car, but somehow I was able to drive it to the checkered flag with a fifth-place finish. I need to look at replays to see how it all came about and how it all finished. Everything happened so quickly."

Matt Kenseth and his Roush-Fenway Racing teammate Greg Biffle ran strong for most of the day.with Kenseth leading three times for a total of 12 laps. After a a poor start in the Chase, this strong run was just what they needed to regain some momentum for the remainder of the Chase.
