NASCAR Cup Series

The 2019 DAYTONA 500 will be a special one for legendary owner Richard Childress and his grandson Austin Dillon.  Childress, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and three-time DAYTONA 500 champion-winning owner, will be embarking on the 50th anniversary season of Richard Childress Racing while Dillon will be defending his victory in “The Great American Race” wheeling the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

After Texas, then there were two locked into Homestead. One stole the show at Martinsville and then attempted to deny the second his ticket. Joey Logano failed to pull it off as he wound up third. Ryan Blaney had something to showcase and he had his moments. Not enough of them, as he had to settle for second.

1. Kevin Harvick: Harvick started third in the AAA Texas 500 and passed Ryan Blaney on an overtime restart to take the win and qualify for the finale at Homestead.

Despite admitting wrongdoing to Jimmie Johnson by penalizing him for failing tech inspection three times when he only failed twice, the fact remains that the call to overhaul NASCAR inspection penalties is getting louder. Although the issue was more of a communication error, there's no glossing over the fact that the system of failing three times before being penalized is pointless and without solid reasoning.

Kevin Harvick won at Texas Motor Speedway and is locked into the Championship 4 for the fourth time in the last five years. Two Ford Performance drivers have secured positions to run for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series championship in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami in two weeks. This marked Harvick’s eighth win in the 2018 season and 45th of his Cup Series career.
