NASCAR Cup Series

Denny Hamlin underwent successful surgery today to repair the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) in his right knee. This was previously scheduled and was done by Dr. Patrick Connor of OrthoCarolina. The knee is expected to recover by the time Speedweeks starts up in February at Daytona International Speedway.

The reigning Sprint Cup Series champion and driver of the No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota will have surgery, on either Dec. 14 or Dec. 15, to remove the plate and screws out of his left foot. He'll also have a second separate surgical procedure to remove a rod from his right leg.

Busch won the Ford EcoBoost 400, holding off Kevin Harvick to win his first Sprint Cup championship. Busch missed the first 11 races of the season after breaking his leg at a crash at Daytona in February. “A pasty white guy from Las Vegas is the Sprint Cup champion,” Busch said. “Ironically, all other driver ‘pale’ in comparison to me.

As the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Season came to a close this past Sunday night in Homestead, Florida, Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) ended a season that showed progress on the track.

In perhaps the greatest comeback story in motorsports history, Kyle Busch won the 2015 NASCAR® Sprint Cup Series™ Championship, after missing the first 11 points races this year, driving his Bosch-equipped number 18 Toyota to victory at the final race of the season in Homestead, Florida Sunday evening.
