Brad Keselowski’s afternoon at Michigan International Speedway was cut short by an accident 61 laps from the finish of the Consumers Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS). Keselowski was credited with a 39th-place finish in the final rundown and is second in the NASCAR Cup Series driver standings, 137 points behind leader Kevin Harvick.

John Hunter Nemechek would start Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Michigan International Speedway in the 36th place but had to drop to the rear to take the green flag due to running a backup car following heavy damage during Saturday’s race.

Ryan Newman worked his way from the back of the field for the second straight day to claim a 13th-place finish at Michigan International Speedway. A savvy strategy call in the tail end of the race gave Newman the track position he needed to capitalize on his well-balanced Castrol Ford Mustang.

Chris Buescher and the No. 17 Fastenal Ford were set to start Sunday’s race at Michigan International Speedway from the pole position, but after sustaining heavy damage at the end of Saturday’s race the team was forced to start Sunday’s event in a backup car and at the back of the field.

Kevin Harvick won his fifth race of the season and 54th of his Cup career by winning today’s race. All five of Harvick’s wins have come since NASCAR returned to action on May 17 (13 starts).

CHASE ELLIOTT, NO. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS CAMARO ZL1 1LE – Finished 7th “We had a strong restart there at the end of the race from the inside lane. When that next caution came out, I just didn’t see it playing out the same way twice, so I chose to go to outside lane."
