Las Vegas (South Point 400) Preview: The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs kick off Sunday, Sept. 15, at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway. With four wins in the 2019 regular season, Hamlin and team will look for a strong start to Playoff racing.

Wood Brothers Racing, the oldest active NASCAR team and one of the winningest teams in series history, announced today that driver Paul Menard will transition from full-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) racing after the 2019 season. Matt DiBenedetto will join the team next season and will race the iconic No. 21 Ford Mustang beginning in 2020.

Team Penske inducted two long-time team leaders and executives into the Team Penske Hall of Fame this morning, as former Penske Racing South President Don Miller and Dan Luginbuhl, one of the pioneers of motorsports marketing and public relations, were honored in a special ceremony at the team’s Mooresville, North Carolina facility.

There are three rounds of Playoffs (3 races per round) in the 2019 format, plus one final championship-crowning season finale. Four drivers will be eliminated following each round of three.

These little teams aren’t supposed to run with the big teams. It was a good day.”

After a practice accident, Denny Hamlin drove through the field at the Brickyard 400, securing a sixth-place result.

NBC will telecast the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway live at 2:00 p.m. ET Sunday, September 8.

Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin was involved in an accident at the conclusion of final practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Hamlin will go to a backup No. 11 FedEx Camry for Sunday’s race.
