The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and XFINITY Series head to Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend as the Cup Series begins its Round of 12 in the Playoffs. The XFINITY Series will close out its opening round of the Playoffs and cut the field from 12 to 8 contenders.

Richard Childress Racing has signed Matt Tifft to a multi-year agreement to join RCR's NASCAR XFINITY Series driver lineup. Tifft will pilot the No. 2 Chevrolet Camaro beginning in 2018 and will compete for the 2018 driver championship. The 21-year-old driver is currently a contender in the XFINITY Series Playoffs in his rookie season.

Kannapolis, North Carolina native and current playoff contender Daniel Hemric will return to Richard Childress Racing for the 2018 season to again compete for the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship, driving the No. 21 Chevrolet Camaro.

In 160 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing teams have earned eight points-paying victories (four wins with Dale Earnhardt, one with Jeff Burton,  two with Kevin Harvick and one with Austin Dillon) and four All-Star race victories (three with Earnhardt and one with Harvick), giving RCR 12 total Cup Series checkered flags at the Concord, N.C.-based track.

Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway marks Reed’s ninth start at the 1.5-mile track. Reed has never finished lower than 19th at Charlotte and seven of his eight previous starts have been 15th or better.

Gallagher and the No. 23 Allegiant team will utilize chassis No. 218 this weekend. Gallagher ran this chassis at Chicagoland Speedway this season (Start: 24th /Finish: 14th).

Camry driver Matt Tifft (sixth) was the top-Toyota finisher in Saturday afternoon’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Dover International Speedway. Toyota’s Daniel Suárez (seventh) led the field twice for two laps (of 200) en route to a top-10 finish on the one-mile Delaware track.

Ryan Blaney fondly remembers coming to race tracks as a child, and having lots of fun during many weekend afternoons. On Saturday, Blaney turned Dover International Speedway into his personal playground as he earned a victory in the “Use Your Melon. Drive Sober 200” NASCAR XFINITY Series playoff race.
