NASCAR O'Reilly Series

Ryan Reed secured his position in the 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series Playoffs with his win in his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway.  The 2017 Playoffs kick off this Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway and Reed has his eyes on a solid finish to set the tone for the remainder of the season and to advance through the Playoff field.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series travels to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the second playoff race in the Round of 16. They are joined by the Camping World Truck Series as it begins its playoff series with the Round of 8. The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to Kentucky Speedway for its first playoff race in the Round of 12.

Richard Childress Racing at New Hampshire Motor Speedway ... Richard Childress has four victories as a team owner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway with Robby Gordon (2001), Kevin Harvick (2006) and Clint Bowyer (2007 and 2010). In 121 starts at the 1.058-mile oval, Childress also has two pole awards, 16 top-five and 40 top-10 finishes with 10 different drivers including Dave Blaney, Jeff Burton, Bowyer, Austin Dillon, Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Green, Gordon, Harvick, Ryan Newman, Steve Park and Mike Skinner.

Today was NASCAR Playoff Media Day in Charlotte, NC, with Ford contenders Ryan Reed of Roush Fenway Racing and Cole Custer of Stewart-Haas Racing participating.  Here are transcripts from their interviews earlier this afternoon.

"I think for myself I’ve tried to keep expectations realistic and I know that I’m improving as a driver and I know that I need to get more laps and good experience, but I think we’re in a spot now being in the Playoffs we can focus our efforts into going as deep as we can and hopefully being in Miami at the end of the year."

Saturday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Kentucky Speedway will mark Ryan Reed’s eighth start at the 1.5-mile track.  In his previous seven starts, Reed’s best finish of seventh came in the fall of 2016.

"I'm really looking forward to going back to Kentucky (Speedway) this weekend. We had a 13th-place finish there in July and brought home some really valuable data and notes that we can use to prepare for this race. Hopefully we get more practice time this weekend unlike last time with the bad weather and getting only one practice session in."

Justin Allgaier held onto the lead after a late restart and won Saturday’s TheHouse.com 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Austin Dillon Continues Streak of Top-Six Finishes in NASCAR XFINITY Series Competition at Chicagoland Speedway with Fifth-Place Result in Rheem Chevrolet "I really didn't have anything for the lead pack guys in the Rheem Chevrolet today. I almost feel like our motor was hurting there at the end. Something must have gotten on the grill because I could not go on the last restart. I was wide open through the corner and it just would not go anywhere, so we'll take a look at the car and see what it did there and keep working on it. I'm proud of our guys. We worked hard for that finish. I wish we could have come home first, second or third there. Overall, the speed just wasn't there."- Austin Dillon

Recap: Ryan Blaney and the No. 22 team finished a disappointing 26th place in TheHouse.Com 300 after late race contact took Blaney out of winning contention. After starting the race from the fourth position, Blaney established himself as one of the top contenders as he quickly moved into second place. Blaney’s Mustang showed tremendous short run speed but by the end of the 45 lap segment, he fell back to the fourth position battling a very loose racecar.
