I’m probably a little biased when we come here, but I think the atmosphere is just a little different, you know? Everyone knows this is a big venue and a big track that everyone wants to run well, so get to meet a lot of family here again, so always that added pressure to do well here, so hopefully we’ll – we can go out there and perform this week.”

Ryan Reed, driver of the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, was part of a press conference this afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where a variety of topics were discussed.

“You automatically get excited just thinking about racing at Indy,” Chastain said. “There’s so much history there and so many great drivers that have turned laps there. It’s an honor to be in the field.”

“Driving at Indy last year was a lot of fun,” Smithley said. “It really made me appreciate the history of the track and how difficult it is to do well there. It’s a very tough track to drive.”

“Indy is a very fast track with tight corners,” Rhodes said. “It takes a lot of speed but also finesse to do well there. I’m looking forward to giving it another shot.”

Richard Childress Racing at Indianapolis Motor Speedway ... In 64 previous Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing has posted two pole awards (Kevin Harvick in 2003 and Jeff Burton in 2006), three wins (Dale Earnhardt in 1995, Harvick in 2003 and Paul Menard in 2011), 11 top-five and 26 top-10 finishes. RCR Chevrolets have also been atop the leaderboard for a total of 268 laps and with the exception of one, each entry has been running at the finish of every event at the Brickyard, dating back to the inaugural race in 1994.

Gallagher will make his first NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Gallagher and the No. 23 team will utilize chassis No. 216; this chassis has been used once this season by Gallagher at Pocono Raceway (Start: 14th/Finish: 18th).

Indiana FAME has partnered with NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) driver, Garrett Smithley for the July 22 NXS Indianapolis 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This relationship stems from Garrett’s involvement with Kentucky FAME, and the organization’s effort to include all FAME chapters across the country.

Ryan Reed drove his way to a 14th-place finish Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford. Reed started the race 19th and worked his way up to 14th by lap 30 when the field was red flagged for rain. Once racing resumed Reed maintained his track position over long green flag runs, while dealing with a tight handling condition all the way to the checkered flag.
