The 42 car was very strong at the end and we just didn’t have quite enough to run with him. We led laps and ran in the top three all day, so that’s a solid effort but not the win we’re looking for, but still nothing to shake your fist at.”

Kyle Busch continues his domination of the NASCAR Nationwide Series by scoring the pole for the History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Busch turned in a lap of 183.094 mph to secure the top spot. Saturday's pole was the 38th career pole for Busch, and his second of the season with the other coming at Darlington.

NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie contender, Chase Elliott, continues to impress at Charlotte Motor Speedway for this weekend’s History 300. Elliott, who drives the No. 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet for JR Motorsports, turned in a lap of 178.330 mph to lead final practice for the Nationwide Series on Thursday.

“It is going to be nice racing so close to home. Our No.60 team has been working very hard to put fast cars together and this should be a good race for the Roush Performance Parts Ford Mustang in front of friends and family.”

Jeffrey Earnhardt will race this weekend at the track where his famous grandfather, seven-time Sprint Cup champion Dale Earnhardt, made his Cup debut. Dale Earnhardt raced for the first time in what would become the Sprint Cup Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway May 25, 1975. He finished 22nd in a Dodge.

On Wednesday, it was officially announced that Bill Elliott will be one of the five inductees into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in January. Elliott joins Fred Lorenzen, Wendell Scott, Joe Weatherly and Rex White as part of the 2015 class.

Just in time for one of the spotlighted races of the Nationwide Series season, Landon Cassill is red hot. Cassill will carry a four-race streak of top-13 finishes into Saturday’s History 300 Nationwide race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In Sunday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Iowa Speedway, Sam Hornish Jr. earned his first win behind the wheel of a Camry -- leading a race-high 167 laps (of 250). He started second and stayed within the top-three consistently throughout the race at the 0.875-mile oval.

Trevor Bayne will make his sixth NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway this Saturday. In five previous starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Bayne has recorded one top-five finish and three top-10s.

Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) rookie Ryan Reed will make his second NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend. Last fall, Reed started 16th and finished 14th at the 1.5-mile track.
