Koch Ready for Friday Night Excitement

After a week off from Nationwide Series competition, Blake Koch is ready to go racing. He's pumped to get behind the wheel of his No. 24 Toyota and test his skills at Richmond International Raceway. Known as the "Action Track," the .75-mile oval has characteristics of a short track and a superspeedway. The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) returns to action this weekend at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) after a one week break. The 250-lap race will be the second consecutive night race of the season for the series. With just seven races into the 2013 season, it is the third time that the NNS teams will visit a track that is less than a mile in distance.

Ryan Reed to make his first NNS start at Richmond

For the first time this season, Travis Pastrana heads to a track that he has competed at before in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Pastrana made two starts at Richmond International Raceway (RIR) last year, including his first overall NNS start last April and his first start for Roush Fenway Racing (RFR), last September. Pastrana finished 25th and 17th in those races, respectively.

New NASCAR Sprint Cup Road-Course Qualifying Procedure Announced

NASCAR announced today that the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will implement the group-based road course qualifying procedure used in NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Touring Series competition during its road-course events at Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International. Under the new procedure, cars will qualify in groups instead of the traditional single-car qualifying runs held on oval race tracks.
