Lights Out: Kurt Busch Wins Pole for 1000Bulbs.com 500

Kurt Busch led a Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) onslaught Saturday in Foodland/Food Giant Qualifying at Talladega Superspeedway, taking the pole for Sunday’s 1000Bulbs.com 500. The top four positions – meaning, the first two rows – will be filled by SHR drivers, in the pivotal NASCAR Playoff race for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

NASCAR and Talladega Superspeedway Enter New Partnership With Sugarlands

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Award-winning moonshine distillery Sugarlands Distilling Company, LLC. has entered the sport by signing agreements with both the sanctioning body and one of the most iconic tracks on the circuit, Talladega Superspeedway. The new partnerships designate Sugarlands Shine as the “Official Moonshine of NASCAR” and as the title partner of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Trucks Series fall race, the Sugarlands Shine 250.

Passing is the Name of the Game at Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR’s Most Competitive Track

Since September of 1969, Talladega Superspeedway has been the place for heart-stopping racing entertainment. With the draft keeping drivers tightly together at 200 mph, it is no surprise that the track has earned a name for itself as NASCAR’s Most Competitive track. The 2.66-mile tri-oval boasts several of the sport’s records, including 88 lead changes (twice) and a tie for the closest finish in a points race when Jimmie Johnson beat Clint Bowyer by .002 seconds in the 2011 GEICO 500. The competition is so intense that races at Talladega are often considered unpredictable as the mammoth track has produced its share of the most unexpected winners, and a few crazy “Big One” incidents along the way.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October, the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car will be on track at Talladega Superspeedway for the NASCAR Playoff 1000Bulbs.com 500 on Sunday, October 14, in efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society in its work to save lives from breast cancer. Furthermore, the track will splash the start/finish line with a fresh coat of paint, changing the look of the black and white checkered pattern to give it a pink and black flair.

CARL EDWARDS TO BE INDUCTED AS 20TH MEMBER OF THE TEXAS MOTORSPORTS HALL OF FAME DURING CEREMONY ON NOVEMBER 3

Carl Edwards, who won six times at TMS over the course of his NASCAR career, will be inducted into the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 3.
