Four-time Talladega Superspeedway winner Brad Keselowski was down the road Thursday in Tuscaloosa, Alabama – affectionately known as ‘Title Town’ – on the campus of The University of Alabama to talk about his quest for another ‘Dega win, as well as a second NASCAR Championship. After meeting with head football coach Nick Saban, whose No. 1 ranked Crimson Tide team is known for exhibiting grit, determination and dominance, Keselowski knows all too well the process he and his team must follow upon his return to the state for the Alabama 500 at Talladega in just two weeks.

For Fairhope, Alabama native Grant Enfinger, his victory in last year’s fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola at Talladega Superspeedway was fulfillment of a childhood dream. Now, for the driver who grew up being the track’s biggest fan, he aims to add to his legacy when he and the rest of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) return to Talladega for this year’s version of fred’s 250 Powered by Coca-Cola on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Oh to wonder what he could have done differently. Those thoughts filled Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s mind on October 15, 2000, after his second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at Talladega Superspeedway. That fall afternoon, his father – Dale Earnhardt Sr. – drove from 18th place to 1st in the closing handful of laps to capture his 10th MENCS checkered flag at ‘Dega and the 76th and final victory of his career. “Little E,” on the other hand, was left to ponder whether a different move would have landed him in Gatorade Victory Lane instead.

It’s not often that two drivers both have a shot to make history – albeit two different aspects –  at the same race track during the same weekend, but Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Joey Logano have the opportunity staring them in the face for Talladega Superspeedway’s Alabama 500 on Sunday, Oct. 15.

Talladega Superspeedway has hosted 96 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) races since it opened in September 1969. Over that time frame, a Chevrolet has pulled into Gatorade Victory Lane an astounding track record 40 times. When NASCAR roars into Talladega for the Alabama 500 playoff event on Sunday, Oct. 15, Chevrolet and the bowtie brigade are hoping to add another notch in the Talladega belt.

"Grab your helmet and your firesuit and be at the airport the next morning." Those were the instructions that Dale Earnhardt Jr. received one day in the mid-1990s when he answered the phone while changing the oil on a car at his father’s Chevrolet dealership. The voice on the other end of the line? None other than his dad - the legend himself - Dale Earnhardt Sr. Where was Dale Jr.’s destination the following morning? None other than Talladega Superspeedway, where boys become men.

When the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Playoffs come to Talladega Superspeedway for the fred's 250 Powered by Coca-Cola on Saturday, Oct. 14, one could say that Johnny Sauter will have a distinct advantage. He is the only driver - out of the eight who have qualified for the playoffs - that knows the way to the track’s Gatorade Victory Lane.
