When the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) makes its debut on the dirt at Eldora Speedway, several drivers in the series will also make their debut off the asphalt. Dakoda Armstrong, however, is not among that group. Possessing a wealth of knowledge on the dirt from his background rich in open wheel racing, Armstrong knows a thing or two about racing on the dirt.

As Chase Elliott is set to make his fourth Camping World Truck Series start this weekend, he heads to a track where he has had success before. Last year in the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series, Elliott picked up a win at Iowa Speedway. This weekend, he hopes to repeat that success in a truck.

After celebrating the Fourth of July weekend on the high banks of Daytona International Speedway, the three national NASCAR series head to short, flat tracks in separate parts of the country this weekend. New Hampshire Motor Speedway will host the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series, while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series heads to Iowa for a standalone weekend of their own.

The Truck Series will be hitting the dirt later this month in likely the most anticipated truck race in their history. Racing on dirt hasn’t been done in NASCAR since 1970, making this race even more special.

At Daytona, I sat and watched Cup qualifying for a couple hours. I watched each car get up to speed, run their two laps and then pull to the apron while the next car exited pit road. It's a procedure repeated 43 times every weekend and it is, for lack of a better term, boring.
