This is Custer’s first NASCAR Xfinity Series championship. He finished runner-up in the standings in his most recent fulltime seasons in the series in 2018 and 2019.

John Hunter Nemechek won the first stage, led five times for 66 laps and was in contention for the championship on the final overtime restart before suffering a tire issue and finishing 28th to end up fourth in the final championship standings.

Cole Custer, driver of the No. 00 Haas Automation Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing, will be making his third Championship 4 appearance this weekend. He finished second in both of his previous attempts to win the championship, but delivered an owner’s title to SHR in 2018.
