Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Boot Barn Ford Team North Wilkesboro Speedway Competition Notes

TEAM AND RACE NOTES:

Bringing the popular Boot Barn livery back to the NASCAR Cup Series, Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Ford Mustang team is ready for the return of the NASCAR Cup Series to the North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Gilliland will compete in Sunday’s All-Star Open in hopes of advancing into the All-Star race on Sunday. The Open will be a 100-lap race.

COMPETITION NOTES:

Like many, Gilliland comes into North Wilkesboro Speedway for the first time. But Gilliland is comfortable around North Carolina short tracks. Gilliland competed in late model stock cars around the Carolinas before advancing in his career.

Gilliland also raced on short tracks in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Series where he won two consecutive championships.

CREW CHIEF RYAN BERGENTY:

“I don’t think you can find a NASCAR fan who is not excited for this All-Star weekend and the return of the NASCAR Cup Series to North Wilkesboro Speedway. It is a historic track and it is a huge part of our sports roots.

“We have to race into the All-Star race, but we have the driver to get it done. The Boot Barn Ford looks great and Todd is going to give it everything he has.”

DRIVER TODD GILLILAND:

“I do not know if anyone knows what will happen when we get out there for the Open race. We are going to see a lot of tire wear and we will all be fighting for grip. But it fits my driving style. I love the short tracks and all the action.

“We have an impressive looking Boot Barn Ford Mustang. It is so cool looking and it is all about us getting it into the big show on Sunday.”

SUCCESSFUL OPENER FOR MBS MOTORSPORTS IN PINTY’S SERIES

(May 16, 2023) Driver Daniel Bois was behind the wheel as the #31 Sierra Excavating/A&G, The Road Cleaners Chevrolet at the season opening event for the 2023 NASCAR Pinty’s Series this past Saturday at Sunset Speedway near Innisfil, Ontario. The team chose to compete in this event to gain some much-needed experience for their oval track program. Even with the challenges and obstacles faced, the was a great success.
With only an hour of practice, Bois wanted as many laps in the #31 MBS Chevrolet as possible to refine his technique. He improved throughout the session and qualified in the 14th. Starting spot.

During the 250-lap feature event on the 1/3-mile oval Bois was again working hard to improve his form in the #31 MBS Chevrolet. With every lap raced he gained valuable insight into the techniques necessary for success on short ovals. In addition, Bois learned something about navigating an ill handling racecar as the #31 had some front suspension issues.

When the checkered flag waved Bois crossed the finish line in 14th position, exactly where he began the day. Certainly not as high a finishing result as they would have liked, but overall, the team is happy with the car’s performance and now have a notebook of knowledge that will benefit them in the future.

Quote:
“We had several things we wanted to accomplish today and the first was to run the whole race. We needed to ensure our engine program was solid and the car ran very well”.
“The handling issue was the sway bar hitting the track, so we’ll go to work and sort through what needs to adjusted there”.
“I personally learned so much running this race, it’s only my second Pinty’s oval race and getting to the other drivers while working on my own race craft is really important, a lot of good things there today”.
“Looking at the big picture, our engine ran strong all day, we’ve got some handling issues to sort out, but the car came home with just some minor body damage, certainly nothing unusual for a tight oval. And we gained a lot of good information about our oval program”.
-Daniel Bois, Driver #31 MBS Motorsports Chevrolet

WIGHT MOTORSPORTS TEAM SHOWS DETERMINED EFFORT IN OPENER

(May 16, 2023) Wight Motorsports Inc (WMI) race shop has been humming for months in preparation for the 2023 NASCAR Pinty’s Series racing season. Racers Andrew Ranger in his #27and Glenn Styres both hit the track this past Saturday in the season opening 250-lap event at Sunset Speedway near Innisfil, Ontario. While the overall finishing results were less than expected, the WMI team remains upbeat and eager for the season ahead.

In a brand new #27 GM Paillé Chevrolet Andrew Ranger showed good speed in practice and qualified in the eighth starting spot. The three-time series champion moved forward in the field in the early going but handling issues later dropped him back in the pack. There was plenty of hard racing and the #27 suffered some body damage along the way but Ranger muscled through. However late in the race hitting some debris ripped one of the engine belts and forced an early retirement.

Glenn Styres in his sharp looking #0 GSR/Ohsweken Speedway/Chanterellie Chevrolet also looked strong in the early going running consistent laps and making steady progress. However, during a restart, the #0 car was collected in a corner one incident and suffered some major damage that included an oil leak. Styres would spend significant time on pitlane while the crew completed repairs before he could return to the race. During the final 50-laps of the race, Styres showed impressive form moving through the field and avoiding some of the other mishaps.

Quotes:
“It was a great start for Andrew with a brand-new car, we tested it before and that went really well. It didn’t quite go the way we expected in the race, and we adjusted. It was just some tough luck that he hit some debris and that ripped the belt off the motor, so we had to stop with only a handful of laps remaining”.
“Glenn looked really good in the early going, he was doing everything right and in a good rhythm. He got collected on that restart and the damage took some time to repair and we went a lot of laps down. Once he got back out, he was right back at it, very consistent lap after lap and getting everything, he could out of the car”.
“Certainly not the day we wanted or expected to have but nobody’s down, the whole team is upbeat and really motivated”.
“Glenn has done a lot of racing since the end of last season and he’s continuing to improve his performance”.
“We’ve got another new car for Andrew next week at Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) we’ll be testing this week and we’re going there to get a checkered flag.”.

Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport Announce Two-Car GTP Program

(Brownsburg, Ind.) May 16, 2023 — Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport (WTRAndretti) announced today its expanded plans for a two-car GTP effort with Acura and Honda Performance Development (HPD). The two-car full factory supported program will compete for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar (GTP) Championship beginning with the drop off the green flag at the 2024 Rolex 24 At Daytona. WTRAndretti’s current GTP duo of Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque will continue to pilot the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 with additional drivers for both cars to be announced in the coming months.

“It has always been our plan to go to a two-car program,” said Wayne Taylor, Team Owner, Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport. “There are so many advantages in being a two-car team and now, going up against all the other factory backed two-car efforts, it is vital. HPD and ORECA have built an amazing race car. When you look back at the season so far, we’ve proved to be quickest almost wherever we go and I believe we now have the car to beat. With the combination of HPD, ORECA, Andretti Autosport and all our corporate partners, we have a really strong organization.”

“Expanding to a two-car program displays the progression and success of not only the WTRAndretti team, but our Acura and HPD relationship in the new GTP era,” added Michael Andretti, Chairman & CEO, Andretti Autosport. “Our focus at Andretti Autosport, bringing our experience and reach, is to support WTRAndretti in finding the right people and providing the right resources to continue on our winning path.”

Acura is a three-time series DPi champion since joining the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2018, claiming the Manufacturer, Driver and Team DPi titles in 2019, 2020 and again in 2022, the final season in the DPi era. Their GTP debut in January 2023 ended with an historic 1-2 finish for the manufacturer. The No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-06 has been part of some of the fiercest battles to GTP competition this season and is currently third in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship fight for the title.

“Being a two-car team will allow us to really lean on our teammates to push us to be better, whether on the driver side or engineering side,” added Ricky Taylor, two-time IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champion. “The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship weekends are so compressed now that getting multiple drivers through the car is difficult. Being able to take different paths and learn from each other is so important. Especially when everyone else has two cars. For us to get on the same program will be so beneficial. We have been dreaming about this for some time now. We have so many ideas on how to use it in a productive way and make us that much stronger.”

The company’s owner attended his first NASCAR race with his grandfather and father at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

“I feel like I’m a part of an important circle of life with this one,” said a smiling Spencer Boyd. “We all have those memories in the 75 years of NASCAR that made us love the sport. For Kelvin it was watching races at North Wilkesboro with his grandfather and father. To know that I’m driving a truck with his company’s name on the hood for the first time at this historic track gives me goosebumps.”

Kelvin Boyette, owner of Latitude Aero, gave his perspective, “It is the ultimate sense of pride combined with nostalgia. When I sat in those grandstands as a five-year-old I could only dream I would be where I am today. It is a special place. We are all big fans of Spencer at Latitude Aero. His work ethic is the kind of gritty stick-to-itiveness that our company, and frankly, NASCAR were built on.”

Boyd continued, “I love what NASCAR has done with our schedule over the years making the racing about what the fans want to see. Well…its fun for us drivers too! I feel special to be part of this week and want to dedicate the race to Kelvin’s grandfather LA Boyette, Jr. and his father Donnie Boyette.”

Thanks to the hard work of all the employees at Latitude Aero, their capabilities list boasts over 25,000 seating part numbers, and continue to add new capabilities every month. This is one reason why they take pride in being one of the most well-respected and trusted providers in the sector.

William Byron – No. 51 HendrickCars.com Silverado Craftsman Trucks North Wilkesboro Preview

William Byron: Driver, No. 51 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Overview:
Event: Tyson 250, Race 10 of 23, 250 Laps – 70/70/110; 156.25 Miles
Location: North Wilkesboro Speedway (0.625-mile, oval)
Date/Broadcast: May 20, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR 90

The Beat on Byron:
William Byron will make his third and final NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start this season behind the wheel of the No. 51 Silverado for Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) Saturday at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Byron, who ran full-time for KBM in 2016, made his KBM return earlier this year at the dirt race at Bristol Motor Speedway where he came from the 14th starting position to earn a third-place finish and then last week at Darlington Raceway came from the 10th starting position to finish fourth.

Byron’s pair of top-10 finishes are part of a streak of eight consecutive for the No. 51 team this year. The team has finished inside the top 10 in every race since finishing 17th in the rain-shortened season opening event at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 51 team currently leads the Craftsman Truck Series owner’s point standings by five points over the No. 38 team. Across eight starts in 2023, the team has recorded one win, one pole, 153 laps led, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 7.2.

Veteran crew chief Brian Pattie is calling the shots for the No. 51 team this year in his first season at KBM after spending the last 14 seasons atop the pit box in the NASCAR Cup Series. It took the veteran signal caller just two races to get his first win at KBM, winning with KBM owner-driver Kyle Busch at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In the Cup Series, his drivers produced six wins, nine poles, 57 top-five and 131 top-10 finishes across 528 starts. In 2012, he guided Clint Bowyer to three victories and a runner-up finish in the Cup Series championship standings. In 2017, he guided Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to two wins and a berth in the playoffs. The Florida native has also recorded 11 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and now has two wins as a crew chief in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This will be Pattie’s first time atop the pit box for a Truck Series event at North Wilkesboro.

Byron will be pulling triple duty this week at North Wilkesboro. He will kick off the week by racing in the ASA Stars National Tour Super Late Model event on Tuesday, race the Truck Series race on Saturday and compete in the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star race on Sunday night.

HendrickCars.com, the online home for everything Hendrick Automotive Group, will be the primary sponsor on Byron’s Silverado for Saturday’s 250-lap event. The No. 51 will be sporting the same Ricky Hendrick tribute scheme that it did for Byron’s first two Truck Series races this season.

Byron collected a Truck Series leading seven victories and 727 laps led driving for KBM in 2016. He earned Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors that season and led the No. 9 team to an owner’s championship with his victory at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The North Carolina native returned to victory lane in the Truck Series last year leading a race-high 94 laps for Spire Motorsports in the HendrickCars.com Silverado at Martinsville Speedway. Across 28 career starts in NASCAR’s Truck Series, the 25-year-old driver has totaled eight wins, three poles, 828 laps led, 14 top-five and 19 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 10.2.

With a series-leading three wins across the first 13 Cup Series races this season; Byron now has seven career victories in NASCAR’s premiere division. In 2022, he finished a career-best sixth in the Cup Series championship standings and ranked third in the series with 746 laps led. Across 193 career Cup Series starts he has totaled 10 poles, 2201 laps led, 32 top-five and 69 top-10 finishes. Between his time at KBM and graduating to the Cup Series in 2018, Byron captured an Xfinity Series championship and Rookie of the Year Honors for Jr. Motorsports in 2017 after totaling four wins, two poles, 262 laps led, 12 top-five and 22 top-10 finishes.

Jack Wood returns to the No. 51 Eberelestock Chevy May 26 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. KBM owner-driver Kyle Busch will make his final start of 2023 July 22 at Pocono Raceway.
William Byron, Driver Q&A:

Are you excited to be running three races this week at North Wilkesboro?
“I’m excited for it for sure. The track looks gorgeous — it just really looks nice. The whole layout of the place has that feel of kind of a Wrigley Field or just a historic place that has a newness to it. I think the late model race will get me ready, running the truck race after that and running the Cup race on Sunday. Lots to do and feel like we don’t really know what we’re getting into yet. I think I practice at one o’clock on Tuesday, so I’ll tell you after that.”

William Byron Career Highlights:

  • With three wins across the first 13 races, Byron now has seven career NASCAR Cup Series victories. In 2022, he finished a career-best sixth in the Cup Series championship standings and ranked third in the series with 746 laps led. Across 193 career Cup Series starts he has totaled 10 poles, 2201 laps led, 32 top-five and 69 top-10 finishes.

  • William Byron’s No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado RST:

KBM-62: The No. 51 HendrickCars.com team will unload KBM-62 for Saturday’s race at North Wilkesboro. This truck has finished inside the top 10 in each of its last five starts, including a runner-up finish with Kyle Busch earlier this year at Martinsville. That result equaled the best finish that this chassis had achieved, which was a runner-up finish with Busch at Richmond Raceway in 2021.

KBM-62 Performance Profile:
KBM Notes of Interest:

  • KBM drivers have collected 17 wins, three poles, 2705 laps led, 56 top-five and 91 top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 9.8 across 142 starts on short tracks. The team’s most recent win on a short track came at Richmond Raceway with Chandler Smith last August.
  • KBM holds the Craftsman Truck Series records for most career wins (99) and most wins in a single season (14 in 2014). With his victory at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway last year, Corey Heim became the 18th different driver to win a Truck Series event for KBM. In addition to collecting a series-record seven Owner’s Championships, the organization has produced two championship-winning drivers: Erik Jones (2015) and Christopher Bell (2017).
  • With 40 victories, the No. 51 is the winningest number in KBM’s Truck Series fleet.

Why Is It Cheaper To Rent A Car From The Airport? Detailed Guide

Photo by Obi - @pixel7propix on Unsplash

Introduction

Why is it cheaper to rent a car from the airport? While renting a car from the airport is generally more expensive due to added fees and taxes, there are exceptions where it could be significantly cheaper. This may come as a surprise to some, as airport rental locations are notorious for adding on extra fees and taxes.

Yes, times are changing, and the rental sector is also growing and with completion. And guess what! It’s you, the consumer, who laughs last. For instance, if you happen to be in Bozeman, Montana, you can try out car rental at Bozeman airport by Explore Rentals where they have options that are way cheaper and affordable. So why is it cheaper to rent a car from the airport? Continue reading to find out.

Here is Why Renting a Car from Airport Might Be Cheaper!

It is important to note that, in general, renting a car from the airport might cost you more than renting one off-airport. As explained earlier, this concerns the fees associated with the respective airport.

In fact, it has been found to be 26% more expensive to rent a car at the airport than in downtown locations in some cases.

However, there are some occasions, and Donmuang car rental in Bangkok is a good example of this, where airport car rental might be cheaper, and this may depend on the individual company and other factors such as:

Off-peak travel – Traveling during off-peak periods can help you save money on several aspects of your trip, including car rentals.

You can take advantage of lower rental rates offered by airport rental companies by being flexible with your travel dates and booking during a less popular time of year or day.

Rental companies may be more inclined to offer discounts and promotions to attract customers during slower periods, making it a perfect opportunity to snag a great deal on a rental car.

Loyalty programs – If you’re a frequent car renter, it’s wise to enroll in rental car loyalty programs to take advantage of exclusive rates and discounts.

Several car rental companies offer these programs, allowing members to earn rewards points, free upgrades, and other benefits.

As a member, when you rent from the airport, you may qualify for exclusive discounts and promotions that make an airport rental car more affordable.

Some loyalty programs even offer perks such as priority service and expedited check-in. To ensure you get the best deal, compare the loyalty program rates with regular rental rates to maximize your savings.

Longer rental periods – Renting from the airport can be a wise choice financially if you’ll be using it for an extended period.

Several airport car rental companies offer discounts on longer rental periods, which can help you save money on your overall rental cost. These discounts vary from a percentage off the daily rental rate to a flat fee discount.

By taking advantage of such discounts for longer rental periods, you can enjoy the convenience and flexibility of a rental car while keeping your travel costs in check.

Benefits Of Renting A Car From The Airport

Renting a car from the airport can offer several benefits for travelers looking to explore their destination on their terms. Here are some reasons you should rent a car from the airport.

  1. Drive the car right from the airport – Renting a car from the airport allows you to pick up the car as soon as you land, eliminating the need to rely on other modes of transportation to reach the off-airport rental car with budget car hire nelson.
  1. Freedom – You get to travel to your destination on your own terms. You can create your schedule, make unplanned stops, and capture picturesque moments along the way.
  1. Cost-effective – Depending on your travel plans, rental needs, and the current market, renting a car from the airport can be more cost-effective than other options. Airport rental car companies may offer discounts for longer rental periods.
  1. Comfort and convenience – Today, most rental cars at the airport are equipped with modern amenities to make your ride even better. GPS and Bluetooth-enabled speakers are standard features in most rental cars.

Families can even request a car with video screens in the back to entertain the kids.

Additionally, some rental services offer a hotline for assistance during your rental period.

Renting a car from the airport not only allows you to start your journey immediately upon arrival, offering affordability and convenience, but also provides subtle protection for your trip.

If you’re worried about losing your luggage or documents while traveling, consider ordering a custom lanyard with your personal contact information. You can even engrave your destination and departure date on the custom lanyards as a memento of your trip.

Attach the custom-printed lanyards to your suitcase, backpack, or document holder, so that even if you accidentally misplace your belongings, the finder can quickly contact you. This lightweight, practical gadget doesn’t take up much space and can significantly enhance travel safety.

Tips For Saving Money On Car Rentals

Renting a vehicle can be a great way to enhance your journey, but it can also be costly if you’re not careful.

Luckily, there are numerous tips to help you cut down on car rental expenses. With these tips in mind, you can save a lot on transportation.

Peer-to-peer car-sharing services – This is not the best option if you are in a hurry, as you might have to wait a bit longer to get a car due to unpredictable availability.

Take advantage of coupons – Whether you find them online, in travel magazines, or through rental car loyalty programs, coupons can help you score a better deal on your rental. You can even upgrade to a higher vehicle class for the same price.

Package deals through travel agencies – Most travel agencies offer package deals that include flights, hotels, and car rentals. Combining your car rental with other parts of your journey could often save you some money.

Compare prices – As a rule of thumb, compare prices to ensure you get the best deal. Some folks have reported paying as much as $100 per day and, on other occasions, as low as $10 per day.

Conclusion

We hope we’ve answered the question, why is it cheaper to rent a car from the airport? The information provided was useful for planning your trip. While airport rental car prices are generally higher due to additional fees, some companies offer lower rates depending on the location.

However, as controversial as it may seem, renting a car from the airport can be a cost-effective way to travel after touching down. Researching and comparing prices from various rental companies to find the best deal is important.

The Best eSports Games to Bet On in 2023

Photo by ELLA DON on Unsplash

With new titles released every year, and older titles fading into obscurity, the esports betting environment requires adaptability to stay relevant. In the 90s and 00s, real-time strategy (RTS) such as Starcraft and fighting games such as Street Fighter reigned supreme and dominated esports. However, fans and gamers interests have shifted towards first-person shooters and multiplayer online battle arenas (MOBA) like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends.

Each year more games are being released and developed, and some are regaining a new surge in popularity. Keeping up with this can be difficult, but good websites such as GGBet alleviate the issue by always offering betting options on the currently popular games. The question this article aims to answer is: What is the best eSports game to bet on in 2023? Continue reading to find out.

Real-Time Strategy (RTS)

As mentioned before the heyday of RTS games has long since passed, but that isn’t to say it is a dead genre. Starcraft II still hosts multiple tournaments and is incredibly popular overseas in places like South Korea. In Europe and America, another RTS game, Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (AoE 2), has seen a massive surge in popularity and has had a positive popularity trend for the past four years. For Westerners, AoE 2 has had many tournaments sponsored by big names such as Redbull with thousands of dollars in prize pools; and is the best option for those that want to get involved with betting in this genre.

First Person Shooter (FPS)

First Person Shooters are the new massively popular genre for esports. The history of FPS in esports has gone all the way back to the early days of Quake but was overshadowed by Starcraft and Warcraft. However, throughout the years and more so lately, games like Counter-Strike, Overwatch, Valorant, and Call of Duty have taken the genre by storm.

Overwatch recently had a sequel that had overwhelming negative press and caused it to fade in popularity. Call of Duty has a popular scene but isn’t typically seen as an ‘eSports title’ because of the lower skill ceiling and performance issues.

This pivots us toward the big dogs of the genre, Counter-Strike, and Valorant. Valorant is a recently released game that is very similar to Counter-Strike. Both games feature an insanely high skill ceiling and require exceptional teamwork to succeed, making them phenomenal esports titles. Both games have an insane amount of popularity, and both are fantastic options to bet on. It is worth mentioning Counter-Strike will be receiving a sequel very soon and will likely become an even better option for esports.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA)

The last genre covered will be MOBAs. The origin of MOBA is from the RTS game Warcraft whereas the game Dota was created as a mod that became incredibly popular. MOBAs are the perfect bridge between the high-skill requirements of an RTS combined with the ease of accessibility of an FPS. There are only two big names to bet on in this genre, League of Legends and Dota 2.

Conclusion

Aside from the release of Valorant and the fall of Overwatch and RTSs, the esports scene hasn’t changed too much in 2023. Valve has consistently released and developed eSports titles so paying attention to what they’re up to is a valuable investment of your time. Below you will find our list of recommended games to bet on. Remember to bet responsibly and safely.

•              Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
•              Valorant
•              Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
•              League of Legends
•              Dota 2
