Alan on building momentum in Las Vegas: “I’m very excited to get to Las Vegas with AUTOParkit™ and Niece Motorsports Friday night. It’s a new track for me, which is exciting, but I’m looking forward to the race. We were fast at Daytona and had a good run brewing until the next to last lap when we got wrecked. So I’m looking forward to continuing to show our speed at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.”

Alan at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Alan makes his first-career start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in Friday night’s Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200.

On the Truck: Alan and the No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado will run the AUTOParkit™ colors for Friday night’s Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200.

Last time out (NextEra Energy 250 – Start: 10th / Finish: 25th): After qualifying in the top-10 in his season debut, Alan and the No. 45 team suffered an early setback in the opening laps, making a trip down pit road for an unscheduled stop. Alan battled back to receive the free pass at the conclusion of stage two to get back on the lead lap. After linking up in the draft with Niece Motorsports teammates Carson Hocevar and Kris Wright, Alan made his way to the lead pack with four to go using the high line before he was collected in a 12-truck incident coming to the white flag. The No. 45 made several stops for repairs prior to overtime, but had to settle for a 25th-place finish making Alan the highest-finishing rookie in the NextEra Energy 250.

Ethel M Chocolates Racing: Kyle Busch Las Vegas Advance

KYLE BUSCH
Born in Las Vegas

HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina (March 1, 2022) – Kyle Busch is set to return to his hometown this weekend and another sweet piece of Las Vegas will be riding along with him once again.

For the second consecutive year, the craft chocolate division of Mars Wrigley – Henderson, Nevada-made Ethel M Chocolates – will be a primary sponsor of a NASCAR Cup Series car. The hometown duo has teamed up for Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with Ethel M Chocolates, maker of handcrafted chocolates in the Nevada desert, will serve as primary sponsor of Busch’s No. 18 Ethel M Chocolates Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR).

Ethel M Chocolates is a marquis offering, manufactured by Mars Wrigley North America and dedicated to creating premium chocolates with fresh ingredients and no artificial preservatives.

Busch is focused on getting back to victory lane at Las Vegas after crossing an all-important hometown win of his checklist in 2009 in just his fifth NASCAR Cup Series start at his hometown track. He’s just missed out on a few other Las Vegas wins since then. This weekend, Busch looks to bring home career Cup Series win No. 60 to add to his growing list of accomplishments.

The 2002 honors graduate of Durango High School in Las Vegas would like to double his number of Cup Series wins at the desert track after having brought home that emotional first win there 13 years ago.

Driving the yellow M&M’S Toyota that day, Busch qualified on the pole but was forced to start at the rear of the field because the team needed to make an engine change during Friday practice. Unfazed, Busch remained patient on race day as he and the M&M’S team worked their way to the front of the field by the 54th lap. He went on to lead three times for 51 laps en route to claiming what he called at the time the biggest win of his young career.

While Busch has NASCAR Xfinity Series wins in 2016 and 2019 and Camping World Truck Series wins in 2018, 2019, and 2020 to go with his 2009 Cup Series win on the 1.5-mile oval, he already was no stranger to winning on Las Vegas Motor Speedway property. From 1999 to 2001, he earned more than 65 wins in Legends cars while racking up two track championships at the Bullring, which existed for several years before the NASCAR track was built. When Busch moved up to Late Models, his winning ways continued with 10 victories at the Bullring in 2001.

As he returns to Las Vegas this weekend, Busch is hoping the “Born in Las Vegas” connection will be just what he needs to celebrate along with Ethel M Chocolates, right at “home” in victory lane.

KYLE BUSCH, Driver of the No. 18 Ethel M Chocolates Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing:

How exciting is it to have Ethel M Chocolates on your car again on Sunday, especially with the Las Vegas connection?

“It’s always a big deal. I’ve been able to go out to the plant several times, now, and met with the associates there and I’ve really enjoyed it. I didn’t realize it until I visited the plant and the retail store that I had been to the cactus garden there before with my grandma. So it’s nice to have that memory of being there as a child with my grandma right next to the plant where they make Ethel M. I’m really looking forward to getting out there on Sunday and hoping we can get Ethel M a good run and go for the win. We had some issues at Fontana, so hopefully we have those corrected for this weekend and we have a shot to run up front and see what we can do from there.”

Being from Las Vegas, is there always more pressure to perform when you’re at that racetrack?

“Yeah, certainly, you always want to do well. I feel like I’ve won that race before and just the huge sense of relief that kind of comes off your shoulders when you’re able to do that and win at your home track. It was pretty awesome. Kurt (Busch) was just able to finally get it done a few years ago, so that was really awesome to see. I remember mine, I think it was 2009. It’s been a long time. Back at that time, it felt like winning the Daytona 500. I hadn’t won as many big races as I have now, or won as often as I have now. So a lot of guys look at the Daytona 500, everybody puts extra emphasis on the Daytona 500 because it is our sport’s biggest race, right? Then you’ve got the guys who all go to their home tracks, and those guys put extra emphasis on their home track and they want to do well there. So it’s just kind of that same philosophy, I think. It’s really cool to have Ethel M Chocolates on the car again this weekend and it would be a great weekend to be able to bring home another win there, not only for myself but everyone down the road at Ethel M.”

What does it mean to your family to race in Las Vegas again?

“It’s cool to be able to come back home and to have the notoriety, I guess, that we have now. When we went out there years ago, there were many other drivers who were way bigger than us and way more popular than us. Now that we’ve been here for a while and those other drivers aren’t there anymore, we’ve kind of upped ourselves on the ladder of that and it’s cool. One of these days, hopefully, there might be a road out there named after us, or a grandstand or something of that nature. Don’t get too far ahead of yourselves because that just means I get closer to retirement if they start doing that, I guess.”

What was it like to bring home a Cup Series win in your hometown in 2009?

“It was cool. To go out there and to run a smooth race and to have a shot at winning at the end of the race, that’s what it’s all about. I watched Vegas being built from the ground up, and I remember when it wasn’t anything but a gleam in the eye of Richie Clyne (founder of Las Vegas Motor Speedway) – all those guys who made that place happen.”

What is your fondest racing memory of growing up in Las Vegas?

“My fondest racing memory is probably my first Late Model race. I started about eighth or 10th and ended up winning it. My first-ever start, I won. So that is definitely a great memory to have.”

Notes of Interest:

● All in the Stats:Busch has one win, nine top-five finishes and 12 top-10s and has led a total of 262 laps in 21 career Cup Series starts at Las Vegas. Busch’s average Las Vegas finish is 11.5.

● Family Ties: Kurt Busch joined younger brother Kyle Busch as a winner at their hometown Las Vegas Motor Speedway with his victory there in September of 2020. Other noteworthy brothers who have brought home Cup Series wins at their hometown tracks include Hueytown, Alabama, natives Bobby Allison (four wins) and Donnie Allison (two wins), who both brought home victories at their home track, Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

● Looking Closer: The record books show Busch won the 2009 Shelby 427, his first win at his hometown track, from the pole. But, because of an engine change during the Friday practice session, Busch had to do it by starting at the rear of the field and storming to the front. It was an emotional win in the city where he grew up.

● Home Sweet Home: From 1999 to 2001, Busch earned more than 65 wins in Legends cars while racking up two track championships at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway “Bullring” before moving up to Late Model Stock cars. Winning seemed to come naturally no matter what Busch drove as he captured 10 victories in Late Model competition at the Bullring in 2001.

● Cap and Gown: Busch graduated with honors from Durango High School in Las Vegas – one year ahead of schedule.

● Drivers Training: In 2001, at age 16, Busch made his debut on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval with a solid ninth in the Orleans 350 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Just a few weeks later, Busch was about to make his first Truck Series start at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, but NASCAR officials were forced to pull him from the event because of a conflict between his age and the weekend’s open-wheel race that featured cigarette sponsorship. The unexpected ruling by NASCAR put new age limitations for competitors and sidelined Busch from NASCAR competition until his 18th birthday.

● Looking for Four: Busch went 17 years between Truck Series starts at Las Vegas, but his return to the series at his hometown track has been nothing sort of sensational. With changing schedules, the series started running on the same weekend as the Cup Series in 2018 and Busch has won all three of last four starts since his return to the series at the 1.5-mile oval. He’ll aim to bring home his fourth Truck Series win at his hometown track as he is entered in Friday night’s race in his No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota Tundra.

Kris Wright – Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 Race Advance

Race Advance – Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 (134 Laps/201 Miles) | Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Friday, March 4 | Las Vegas, Nev. | 9 p.m. ET

TV: FS1 | Radio: Motor Racing Network (MRN), Sirius XM Ch. 90

Team: No. 44 iHeartRadio/Shocker Hitch Chevrolet Silverado

Driver: Kris Wright (Wexford, Pa.) | Crew Chief: Wally Rogers

Follow the Team: @NieceMotorsport; @KrisOnNASCAR

Wright on returning to Las Vegas Motor Speedway: “I am really excited for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The first intermediate track with a new team is always exciting – not to mention the single-car qualifying at a 1.5-mile track. As a driver, you really get a sense for what the truck is going to do for a lot of the races this season. Our Niece Motorsports team has been working hard at the shop and with Chevrolet to bring a good package out west.”

Wright at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Wright makes his third start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Friday night with both of his previous two starts coming in his first full-time season in 2021. Wright ran to a 25th-place finish in the spring event before turning in a 16th-place finish in the fall race after starting 26th.

On the Truck: Wright welcomes iHeartRadio and Shocker Hitch to the No. 44 Chevrolet Silverado for the first time this season Friday night at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a new red and white paint scheme.

Last Time Out (NextEra Energy 250 – Start: 12th / Finish: 19th): Wright kept his No. 44 F.N.B. Corporation Chevrolet Silverado in line with the No. 42 of teammate Carson Hocevar for much of the early going in the NextEra Energy 250 as the two led the second pack of trucks in the draft. After serving a one-lap penalty for a pit road violation on lap 67, Wright got himself back on the lead lap via the free pass following a caution on lap 79. With 16 to go, Wright was collected in an incident in turn four and brought the No. 44 to pit road to repair right side damage but battled his way back to 12th for the overtime restart. Shortly after taking the white flag while following the high line to the front, the No. 44 was again collected in a wreck – this time on the frontstretch ultimately ending the race – resulting in a 19th-place finish.

Carson Hocevar – Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 Race Advance

Race Advance – Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 (134 Laps/201 Miles) | Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Friday, March 4 | Las Vegas, Nev. | 9 p.m. ET

TV: FS1 | Radio: Motor Racing Network (MRN), Sirius XM Ch. 90

Team: No. 42 Premier Security Solutions Chevrolet Silverado

Driver: Carson Hocevar (Portage, Mich.) | Crew Chief: Phil Gould

Follow the Team: @NieceMotorsport; @CarsonHocevar

Hocevar on returning to Las Vegas Motor Speedway following a top-10 finish at Daytona: “We’re pretty excited for Las Vegas. I feel like we did our job at Daytona by getting some points in the bank. By having a solid finish we’ll be one of the last teams to roll off for qualifying which is going to be an advantage for us. Ultimately, you have to leave Daytona not in a points hole and we accomplished that. I’m excited to build on that and get to Las Vegas with our No. 42 Premier Security Solutions Chevrolet.”

Hocevar at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Hocevar makes his third NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Friday night. He made both of his previous starts during his rookie season in 2021, producing a 24th-place finish in the spring race and a 22nd-place finish in the fall event.

Hocevar’s 22nd-place finish in the fall race is deceiving, as the then-rookie ran in the top-10 for most of the night and led eight laps before a late-race, green flag pit stop mired him in the back half of the field.

On the Truck: Hocevar and the No. 42 Chevrolet Silverado will carry the Premier Security Solutions paint scheme for Friday night’s Victoria’s Voice Foundation 200 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Last time out (NextEra Energy 250 – Start: 22nd / Finish: 9th): Hocevar and the No. 42 team were positioned in the second pack of trucks for a majority of the first two stages of the NextEra Energy 250 before crew chief Phil Gould made the call for a two-tire stop under caution on lap 65 while most of the leaders opted for fuel only. The call paid off as Hocevar made a charge to the front while avoiding a wreck in turn four on lap 81 before ultimately restarting 11th in overtime. Hocevar continued his push forward, but a caution on the front stretch on the final lap halted his charge, resulting in a ninth-place finish. The 19 year-old posted the 10th-fastest overall lap average on the night (49.682).

I feel like I’ve done every job on the racecar and in the shop, so that means I know my way around a lot of the equipment United Rentals provides,” said Preece, a dedicated Ford Performance driver in each series in which he competes. “Scissor lifts, forklifts, generators, air compressors – I’ve rented them and run them. Clean Harbors Partners With Thad Moffitt at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Statesville, NC – GMS Racing is proud to announce a new multi-race partnership with Clean Harbors, North America’s leading provider of environmental and industrial services. The partnership, which will include primary sponsorship on Thad Moffitt’s No. 43 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, will first be showcased at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday night.

Thad Moffitt will make just his second-career NCWTS start driving the Clean Harbors Silverado RST, coming two weeks after his series debut at Daytona, which resulted in a solid 18th-place finish. The fourth-generation driver will experience Truck racing on an intermediate track for the first time, relying on past experience in the ARCA Menards Series to help acclimate him to the type of track.

“Clean Harbors was the first major partner in my career, and they have supported me since 2017. As I have progressed through the NASCAR ranks, Clean Harbors has been there in every step of the way, and I am super excited to bring them into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with our Reaume Brothers Racing team along with the additional support from GMS Racing. It’s great to kick off the start of our 2022 partnership this weekend, and I look forward to representing them in additional races later this season. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a track that I’ve never been to before, and Clean Harbors has never been a primary sponsor of a truck, so this will be a new experience for all of us. I’m excited to continue to grow our partnership and am ready to debut this awesome looking Silverado!” said Moffitt prior to the announcement.

Through its subsidiary Safety-Kleen, Clean Harbors has been one of Petty’s longest partners – first providing the shop with parts washers in 1973. Today, Safety-Kleen services GMS and Reaume Bros Racing. As the official environmental services supplier of NASCAR, Safety-Kleen also collects all used oil, lubricants and liquid waste at the tracks, and then recycles, responsibly disposes of or re-refines those fluids.

“We’ve watched and backed Thad as he’s risen through the ranks year after year. We’re incredibly proud that he’s taking this next step into the Truck Series,” said Buddy Judy, Clean Harbors director of motorsports. “We’re especially excited to see him compete this year as the driver of the iconic No. 43. It’s a historic moment for the sport and, for the Clean Harbors family, it’s a full-circle realization after being partners with Thad’s grandfather and the Petty family for so long.”

Moffitt will compete in a hybrid schedule in 2022 which will include the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, ARCA Menards Series and Trans AM. Additional details of Moffitt’s schedule along with further partnership announcements, will be forthcoming. Partnership opportunities are available for the No. 43 program – for all partnership inquiries please contact Stephen Moffitt via email at smoffitt@pettygms.com for more information.

EDDIE TAFOYA IS EAGER FOR TWO RACE USAC/CRA CENTRAL CALIFORNIA TRIP

221878616_10165489278430201_2682920001173314178_n.jpg Eddie Tafoya Jr. is fourth in USAC/CRA points heading into this week's races.

(Chino Hills, CA, February 28, 2022) Normally, five weeks would not seem like a long time to USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series competitor Eddie Tafoya Jr. However, coming off a series-best second-place finish at Arizona’s Cocopah Speedway at the end of January, the wait for this weekend’s Central California doubleheader at the Stone Chevrolet Buick GMC Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare and Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford has seemed like an eternity.

Second-generation sprint car racer Tafoya, who lives in Chino Hills, California, opened the 2022 season with a seventh-place finish at Cocopah. The following night he slipped back two spots and finished ninth. The highlight of the weekend came when he drove the beautiful #51T to a second-place finish in the 30-lap main on the final night before heading back to So Cal. The three top 10 finishes to open the campaign see the 2019 “Rookie of the Year” fourth in the 2022 championship standings before this week’s races.

Friday’s race will only be Tafoya’s second appearance at Tulare. His first outing at the track came last March and it is one he plans to improve on. The likable driver qualified 16th in the 21-car field with a time of 16.543. After qualifications, he started in the first heat race and finished his night on the last circuit of the 10-lapper when he flipped into the turn one billboards. The crash did not seem exceptionally violent, but after returning to the pits, Tafoya’s crew quickly found out the unforgiving Tulare billboards were a clear KO winner as the chassis was destroyed.

While the 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns champion’s presence at Tulare will only be his second ever at the track, it is two more appearances than he has made at Keller Auto Speedway!

This week’s Central California doubleheader is the first of three for Tafoya and the other USAC/CRA drivers in 2022. The next time they pull the Tulare/Hanford double will be April 1st and 2nd and it will be followed by one more trip on July 8th and 9th.

Tafoya fans who cannot make the trek up the 99 this week can see both nights of action on Flo Racing. Details on a Flo Subscription are available at www.floracing.com.

This week’s action in Tulare will get underway when spectator gates open at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps will follow at 5:00 with qualifying at 6:00 and the first green flag of the night will be at 7:00. The Stone Chevrolet Buick GMC Thunderbowl Raceway is located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds on the corner of Bardsley and K Streets at 620 South K Street Tulare, California 93274. The track website is http://www.thunderbowlraceway.com/ and the office phone number is (559) 688-0909. Camping will be available off turns three and four.

Spectator gates in Hanford will swing open at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The track is located at 801 S. 10th Avenue in Hanford (93230) and its website is https://www.racekingsspeedway.com/

After this Friday and Saturday’s races, Tafoya will be off until the USAC/CRA Series joins the World of Outlaws for the annual “SoCal Shootout” at Perris Auto Speedway on March 26th.

Tafoya and the #51T team would like to welcome new sponsor Weld Wheels for joining the 2022 championship effort. He wants to thank them along with Specialty Fasteners, DRC Chassis, Ryder Racing Engines, Simpson Safety Products, Bell, Benic Enterprises, BR Motorsports, PSC Powder Coating, Magik Graphics, and Gasper Transportation for making this season possible.

If you or your company would like to be a part of the Specialty Fastener team’s 2022 season effort, please contact Eddie Tafoya Jr. via phone at (909) 393-3999 or by e-mail at teamtafoya@aol.com. He will be happy to talk to you and lay out the team’s 2022 plans.

Fans can follow Tafoya on Instagram @eddietafoya51. The same contact point can be used to purchase his great-looking shirts via mail.

Next up after the races in Imperial will be a return to Arizona’s Mohave Valley Raceway for the second year in a row on March 11th and 12th. The high-speed 3/8-mile clay oval is minutes away from the Colorado River and is only 20 minutes from Laughlin.
