Worldwide Express, along with its sister brands of GlobalTranz and Unishippers, will serve as the primary partners of Thompson’s No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado for all 23 races during the rookie’s 2022 season, beginning with the NextEra Energy 250 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 18.

“I’m beyond thankful and blessed to have Worldwide Express and its family of brands on our No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado for the entirety of the 2022 season,” Thompson remarked. “I’m looking forward to the start of this partnership and sharing my rookie season with Worldwide Express while making it a memorable year for all of us.”

Among the top non-asset logistics providers in the country, the three brands offer marketing-leading solutions for parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL) and truckload shipping and managed transportation services delivered through proprietary technology. With unique data assets and business intelligence capabilities, more than 120,000 shippers, from small and mid-size to enterprise businesses, benefit from enhanced visibility and efficiency for their supply chains.

Worldwide Express’ partnership with Niece Motorsports includes a business-to-business activation with Thompson Pipe Group, which will also be displayed on Thompson’s No. 40 Chevrolet Silverado for the 2022 season. Through the agreement, Worldwide Express will become the official shipping partner of Thompson Pipe Group and its manufacturing locations all across North America.

“We are proud to partner with the Niece Motorsports team,” said Rob Rose, president of the three brands. “Their rich history of striving to win and hunger for continuous improvement is directly aligned to the business approach shared by our employees, franchisees and agents. We, too, work to be better every week and drive competitive advantages for our customers and carrier partners. This was a natural fit for us, and we are excited to put our support behind the team in their race to the top of the leaderboard.”

Thompson, entering his first full-time season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, made his series debut last November in the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix Raceway, producing a 21st-place finish after starting 25th.

The Peterborough, ON native is returning to full time competition, last racing in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series in 2016.

Last season Bray Autosports didn’t have one DNF which Bray himself states they are pleased about that adding, “We think there’s even better race results possible and that’s what were looking for this season”.

Bryan is excited to get behind the wheel of the Bray Autosports machine during the 13-race 2022 NASCAR Pinty’s Series season beginning Saturday May 14th at Sunset Speedway in Innisfil, Ontario.

Flying Lizard Returns to GT4 America, GT America with Aston Martin

Sabo and Lee join championship efforts

SONOMA, Calif., (February 14, 2022) – Two years after Flying Lizard Motorsports swept the team and driver titles in GT4 America with a pair of Aston Martin Vantage GT4 race cars, the team will again race a pair of Aston Martins in SRO America. With the support of sponsor 5.11, manufacturer of purpose-built apparel, footwear, and gear, Elias Sabo and Andy Lee will team up to compete together in the GT4 America championship, and Sabo will run a separate GT4 entry in GT America. Elias Sabo and Andy Lee will team up to compete together in the GT4 America championship, and Sabo will run a separate GT4 entry in GT America.

“It’s great to welcome new racers to the Lizard family and to return back to again race with Aston Martin, a manufacturer we’ve had great success with,” said Program Manager Darren Law. “I have personally known Andy for a long time and recently met Elias, and I’m proud to welcome them to the team. They’re both proven racers and I’m looking forward to challenging for more championships this year in SRO America.”

The Lizards clinched the four 2020 team driver titles with 17 wins and 21 podiums between the 2020 GT4 America Sprint and GT4 America SprintX program with drivers Michael Dinan and Robby Foley. The remarkable success earned the team their seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth championship titles since the team’s professional racing inception in 2004.

“We are delighted to have Flying Lizard back with Aston Martin Racing,” said Huw Tasker, head of Customer Racing at Aston Martin. “We’ve enjoyed working with them in the past and we know what a great combination AMR and Flying Lizard can be following our super-successful partnership in 2020 that included a clean sweep of four SRO GT4 championships. The Vantage GT4’s growth as a competitive proposition continues in the GT racing market around the world, and we expect Flying Lizard will fully contribute to that in 2022.”

The approaching season will be Elias Sabo’s first year racing the Aston Martin Vantage GT4 car. Sabo first joined what was then the Pirelli World Challenge in 2018, participating in six races in the SprintX GTS Pro/Am category, racing a McLaren 570S GT3. In 2020, he began a two-year stint racing Audi machinery, running an Audi R8 LMS GT4 in the GT4 America Pro/Am class and an Audi R8 LMS GT2 in GT America.

This season, he will contest the No. 8 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 alongside Andy Lee in GT4 America. Lee is also a familiar face in GT4 America, originally the Pirelli World Challenge SprintX series. He joined the series in 2018 as Sabo’s co-driver, creating a strong on-track pairing in a competitive series. The GT4 America series hosts a two-driver, one-car format, in a pair of 60-minute races each weekend. Sabo and Lee will compete together in the Pro/Am category, one of the series three classes.

Sabo will also run a separate No. 8 Aston Martin Vantage GT4 entry in GT America, a sprint series for bronze drivers, running a pair of 40-minute races per event weekend. The GT America series is comprised of three classes: SRO3 (GT3), GT2, and GT4. Sabo participated in the inaugural season in 2021, competing in both rounds at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the inaugural Nashville Music City Grand Prix. The team will compete in the full 2022 GT America schedule, with the exception of the season-opening race at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and the Nashville Grand Prix.

DRIVER QUOTES

Elias Sabo
“We are looking forward to the upcoming SRO season with Flying Lizard. It’s exciting to work with such an incredible team whose track record of success is undeniable.”

Andy Lee
“Getting the chance to represent Flying Lizard is a dream come true for me! Elias and I are eager to learn from the team as we change cars from the Audi to the Aston Martin GT4 for the upcoming season. The last time Flying Lizard competed with the Aston Martin in the GT4 Sprint-X division they won the championship. That’s very confidence-inspiring and we look forward to working hard to continue that winning tradition.”

Biffle joins NY Racing for Daytona 500 bid

NY Racing will attempt to compete in this year’s 64th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway with former NASCAR veteran Greg Biffle selected to drive the team’s single-car entry throughout Daytona Speedweeks.

The 52-year-old veteran from Vancouver, Washington, will be piloting the No. 44 NY Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 with sponsorship support from Grambling State University and HBCU League Pass Plus. Veteran Jay Guy will be serving as Biffle’s crew chief as the team will be fielding cars built from Richard Childress Racing and powered by Hendrick Motorsports engines.

Should he qualify for the 500 with NY Racing that enters Daytona Speedweeks without a charter nor a guaranteed starting spot, Biffle will make his first NASCAR Cup Series start since the 2016 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, which also marks his last full-time Cup and Daytona 500 campaigns to date. It will also mark his first NASCAR national touring series start since competing in the Camping World Truck Series event at Darlington Raceway with GMS Racing in September 2020.

“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to drive the Next Gen car and help NY Racing make its entry into the 2022 season,” Biffle announced in a team release. “I’ve always said since the day I stepped away from full-time competition that I would return under the right circumstances.”

Since making his debut at Auto Club Speedway in April 2002 through his last scheduled start at Homestead in November 2016, Biffle has made a total of 510 starts in NASCAR’s premier series (504 with Roush Fenway Racing, four with Andy Petree Racing, and two with Petty Enterprises). During this span, he has achieved 19 career victories (all with RFR) with his last occurring at Michigan International Speedway in June 2013. He has also achieved 13 Cup career poles, 92 top-five results, 175 top-10 results, 5,844 laps led, an average-finishing result of 16.6 and seven Playoff appearances with a best points result of second place in 2005.

Biffle is a former champion of the Camping World Truck Series (2000) and Xfinity Series (2002). In 244 Xfinity career starts, he has achieved 20 victories, 14 poles, 93 top-five results and 149 top-10 results with his final victory occurring at Phoenix Raceway with Roush Fenway Racing in April 2009. In 83 Truck career starts, he has achieved 17 victories, 12 poles, 43 top-five results and 55 top-10 results with his final victory occurring at Texas Motor Speedway in a one-race deal with Kyle Busch Motorsports in June 2019.

Biffle has also made 14 consecutive starts in the Daytona 500 (2003-2016) with his best on-track result being third place twice in 2010 and 2012. While he has yet to achieve his first 500 victory, he is a former winner at Daytona International Speedway after winning in July 2003, where he notched his first win in the Cup Series.

“Urban Edge Network, Inc., is excited to announce our relationship with black owned NY Racing,” Todd F. Brown, CEO of Urban Edge Network, Inc., said. “John is an alumni of Grambling State University. We’re excited to bring our HBCU audience across 101 campuses into the NASCAR arena virtually and physically. We know that our fan base supports sports that reflect and invite blacks into the experience. We’re looking forward to branding and partnering with Fortune 500 companies to support this fully black owned team as they’ve supported other NASCAR teams in the past.”

Biffle’s 2022 Daytona 500 bid with NY Racing will commence on Tuesday, February 15, for a pair of practice sessions (the first at 5:05 p.m. ET on FS1 and the second at 6:35 p.m. ET on FS1) followed by the Daytona 500 pole qualifying session on Wednesday, February 16 (8:05 p.m. ET on FS1), and the Bluegreen Vacations Duels on Thursday, February 17 (Duel 1 at 7 p.m. ET on FS1 and Duel 2 at 8:45 p.m. ET on FS1). Daytona Speedweek schedule and format

NASCAR kicks off the start of the 2022 season at Daytona International Speedway this week culminating in the 64th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday afternoon. While we got a glimpse of the Next Gen car in the Busch Clash at the L.A. Coliseum, the true test begins this weekend as the regular season begins.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will compete Friday night in the ‘NextEra Energy 250’ and the Xfinity Series will be on track Saturday evening for the ‘Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner. 300.’

Qualifying for the Daytona 500 is set for Wednesday night and will have a new look this year. There will be two rounds of qualifying with the top 10 fastest cars moving to the second round. The fastest two cars in Round 2 will lock in their starting positions on the front row.

The remaining starting positions will be determined in the Bluegreen Vacation Duels on Thursday evening. The lineup for the Duels will be set by the single-car qualifying results from Wednesday.

The cars that finished first, third, fifth, etc. in the single-car qualifying will make up the field for Duel 1. The cars that finished in even-numbered positions will compete in Duel 2. There will be the same number of Open teams in each Duel race.

The Bluegreen Vacation Duels will set the starting lineup for the Daytona 500. The drivers from Duel 1 will line up on the inside row in order of their finish and the drivers from Duel 2 will line up on the outside row in order of their finish.

The fastest open team in each Duel will qualify into the Daytona 500. The two open teams with the fastest times in single-car qualifying that did not qualify through the duels will make up the final two spots in the field.

This year the top-10 finishers in each Duel will receive points that will count toward the regular-season championship. The winner receives 10 points, the runner-up nine points, etc., with the 10th-place finisher earning one point.

If it rains and the Duel races cannot be run, the starting grid for the Daytona 500 will be set based on the best qualifying speeds along with the four fastest Open cars, If only the second Duel race is canceled due to rain, the highest-finishing open team from the first duel plus the three remaining fastest open teams from qualifying will advance to the Daytona 500.

FactoryONE Sherco Rider Cody Webb Competes in ArenaCross – A First for the Brand

Denver, CO – In a first for Sherco, Cody Webb, on a whim after an invite from the promoter, raced the last two rounds of ArenaCross in his adopted hometown of Denver, CO. To put this in perspective, the 33 year old Sherco pilot had never before ridden a set of “whoops” until his test laps on Thursday evening. Cody would lineup for rounds 9 and 10 on his EnduroCross / SuperEnduro practice bike which was complete with super soft suspension, 18 inch rear wheel, hand guards and a headlight. This wasn’t the most ideal setup for jumps and whoops but he showed what a diversified rider he is.

“The Arenacross crew asked me to come out and race the final two rounds since it was in my hometown.” Said Cody Webb “Since it’s the same promoter as endurocross, I figured I would give it a go and help cross promote the two series and get the Sherco name where it hasn’t been before. Honestly, I didn’t even mention it to the guys with Sherco USA until that week, but I knew they support me no matter what, so that is another reason I opted in.

I did the best I could to set my practice bike (EnduroCross) up last minute. I bought an 18” MX tire Wednesday from my local dealer and adjusted the clickers almost all the way in. I had never hit a set of whoops before in my life, but I was more than willing to give it a try. I had an absolute blast and would honestly probably try and give it a go when they come into town next year. I think I impressed some of the other riders on my ‘enduro’ bike so I was pretty stoked about that..”

Cody qualified for both the 250 and 450 main events on Friday’s round 9 by way of the last chance qualifiers. This was a surprise to many, given his setup and his lack of preparation for such racing. He was running in a top 10 position in the 250 main until he allowed the leaders to come through near the end of the race. While doing so, he thought the riders just behind him, were also part of the lead train and let them by as well, and thus finished 14th. In the 450 main event, he would better that with a 12th place finish.

Round 10 on night two would see Webb winning the 250 LCQ putting him in the main event once again. Bad luck would come his way in the 450 LCQ when he would crash in a corner while trying to make a pass on two riders who were in the lead. “I was way faster than the riders just in front of me, but I just couldn’t get around them. I made a dumb little mistake that put be on the ground going into the corner just before the whoops, and that ended my chance of getting into the 450 main” Said Webb. He would match his best finish from the night prior with a 12th place overall in the 250 main event.

· While the schedule for Daytona Speedweeks has changed over the years, the format remains the same for teams heading into the Daytona 500.

· Following a pair of practice sessions Tuesday evening, drivers will go for the pole in qualifying Wednesday night, which sets the lineup for the front row for Sunday’s Daytona 500.

· That qualifying session will feature two rounds, with the top-10 speeds in round one moving on to round two. The fastest two cars in round two will lock in as the front row.

· Results from those Duels will set the starting lineup for ‘The Great American Race.’ The finishers from Duel 1 will line up on the inside row in order of their Duel finish, while the finishers from Duel 2 will line up outside in order of their finish.

Keselowski at Daytona International Speedway

QUOTE WORTHY
Keselowski on racing in the Daytona 500:
“I’m excited to see this all come together and happy to get this journey going. Daytona is obviously one of the most special places you will ever race, and for us it is a great opportunity to put our stake in the ground early and right out of the gate. For me, the 500 hasn’t always treated me with the best of luck despite bright moments along the way, so I have that fire now, more than ever, to add a Daytona 500 win to my career list of accomplishments, and can’t wait to get down to Florida soon to get the week started.”

Last Time Out

Keselowski failed to advance to the main event at the Clash at the Coliseum two weeks ago in Los Angeles.
