SEXTON GATLIN RACING OPENS SOUTHWEST SEASON THIS WEEKEND

(Lakeside, CA, February 28, 2021) 2021 Lucas Oil POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car Series champion Grant Sexton will begin defense of his title this Saturday and Sunday, March 5th, and 6th, during the California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta at the Imperial Valley Raceway. Sexton Gatlin Racing teammates joining the returning “King” for the opening SWLS race of 2022 will be his father Brent and older Brother, Dalton.

Sexton Gatlin Racing’s Dalton Sexton won the last SWLS race at the Imperial Valley Raceway two years ago this weekend.

The weekend’s events will be the first for the 17-year-old defending champion since the New Year’s “Tulsa Shootout” in Oklahoma. For Dalton and Brent, it will be their first races since November’s “Hangtown 100” in Placerville, California.

This week’s races will mark the first time SGR has been back on the Imperial County track since the first week of March in 2020. That appearance was for the first-ever SWLS races and the Lakeside, California-based team swept the podium with Dalton notching his first-ever Lightning Sprint Car win on the second day. Teammates Chris Crowder from Colorado and San Diego’s David Bezio placed second and third in the same race.

This Saturday’s show will be under the lights and will start at 5:00 p.m.  Sunday’s finale will begin at 1:00 p.m. Both races will be wingless.  Admission to each race is free with a ticket to the California Mid-Winter Fair and Fiesta.  The ¼-mile oval is located on the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds at 200 East 2nd Street in Imperial, California 92251.

This weekend’s races will be the first of an ambitious 31-event schedule for SGR in 2022. Before the season ends, the three-car team will have competed on 13 different tracks in six states (California, Arizona, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, and Washington).

Next up after the races in Imperial will be a return to Arizona’s Mohave Valley Raceway for the second year in a row on March 11th and 12th. The high-speed 3/8-mile clay oval is minutes away from the Colorado River and is only 20 minutes from Laughlin.

How Old Do You Have To Be To Ride A Dirt Bike?

Photo by Taras Chernus on Unsplash

Dirt Bike riding is an enjoyable experience to have. No wonder your child wishes to get started on riding one as soon as possible. Generally, your kid can start indoor riding on an electric dirt bike at the age of three.

To consider the legal age of dirt bike riding, it depends on the state you’re living in. For example, there is no age limit for riding a dirt bike in countries like the UK and America.

On an important note, before you let your child ride a dirt bike off-road, it’s better for them to get the handle on a dirt bike first.

Coming up next, we’ll go through different aspects of dirt bike’s age limitations such as the age limit to ride off-road, choosing the right bike, different dirt bikes for different age groups, etc.

Let’s get right on it, shall we?

Age Limit To Riding A Dirt Bike Off-Road

Riding a dirt bike indoors and riding it off-road are two very different things. Although your child can start riding on a dirt bike indoors at the age of three. You must be patient and let them have a little bit of practice perfecting their bike’s handling and proper control.

In our opinion, you shouldn’t drive off-road until the age of twelve or more. So you can gain more experience and be better prepared to ride a dirt bike off-road. Although it’s true it can differ from person to person. To make sure of utmost safety you can choose a safe dirt bike for 13-year-olds off-road riding.

Choosing The Right Bike For Your Kid

Getting a new dirt bike is pretty exciting for your kid. Choosing the right one is crucial to growing as a young bike rider. You can’t just hand them a dirt bike that’s totally unfit for your child. You shouldn’t push your child to get started, remember every child takes their own time to get started on a task.

While browsing different dirt bikes for your kid, don’t compromise on safety measures. It means you need to choose a bike that is easy to handle and a bike’s throttle that helps them maintain a balanced course. Choose the bike’s height and weight according to your kid’s strength.

You can find two types of dirt bikes in the market one is two-stroke another is four-stroke. The two-stroke model is suited for the initial face and the four-stroke model is more suited for a bit advanced level dirt bike riders.

A Dirt Bike For Different Age Group

A dirt bike can differ with different age groups. We intend to cover every single one in the following segment.

Let’s begin:

AgeDirt Bike’s TypeGearsTraining Wheels
3 to 6 years oldElectric and gas 50cc maxGearsYes
7 to 9 years oldPatrol and Gas65 to 85 cc maxClutch & GearsUnlikely
10 to 11 years oldPatrol and Gas65 to 110 cc maxClutch & GearsNo
12 to 18 years oldPatrol and Gas125 to 450cc maxClutch & GearsNo

Three To Six Years Of Age Group

In this age group of 3 to 6, if the dirt bike is over 10mph, the bike might be more powerful than your kid can handle. So be very cautious of choosing a bike’s cc not more than 50, which gives a maximum of 3mph mileage.

At this time your kid needs proper guidance and remember to be patient with your child. Your proper guidance helps your child to develop their skills faster. At this age, your kid won’t have as much strength as later on, so choosing a lightweight dirt bike will help them to control the bike easily.

Seven To Nine Years Of Age Group

At this stage of life, generally, kids tend to be more used to riding a dirt bike and will desire a more powerful motorcycle. Although it completely depends on your kid’s dirt bike riding experience.

At this time of age, It’s very common to have a hunger for learning new tricks. It could either ride the bike at high speed or do different styles of stunts. A dirt bike of 65 to 85cc should be enough to meet their desired adrenaline.

Ten To Eleven Years Of Age Group

When your little one grows up, their needs grow up with them. That means they are now able to handle a much more powerful bike but not over 110 ccs. But don’t give them something they’re not ready to match up with.

Because as they grow up they would try to chew more than they can swallow. Don’t compromise their safety. Give them a dirt bike that comes with tiptop safety features. After that just relax and watch them acknowledge their skills.

Age Group Of Teenagers(12-18)

At this stage of life, your little one is growing up to be a man and will need a more sturdy and stable dirt bike. A dirt bike of 125cc should be enough to fulfill their needs. Although some kids can go as far as 450cc.

In your eyes, they’ll always be your little ones but you can’t ignore the fact that they grew up. Now they’re fully equipped to control more powerful dirt bikes and will want to sign up for sports competitions like Dirt Races.

Riding A Dirt Bike – Is It Safe For Your Kid?

Indeed dirt bike riding is a fun experience to have, but you should know it has its fair share of danger. That’s why many parents feel hesitant to let their children learn dirt bike riding.

We won’t sugarcoat it, accidents do happen while riding dirt bikes. If your child is not careful the accident could be fatal. So we suggest you provide your kid with proper protective gear that can keep your little one safe from any major injuries.

Dirt Bike Riding Gears for Kids

Dirt bike riding is an active sport that deals with close contact with the riders. Your little one is bound to fall several times while learning to ride on a dirt bike. No matter how hard you try it’s unavoidable.

The only action you can take is to provide your child with protective gear while they’re on the bike. Let’s look into those protective gears in the following part.

Helmet

The most important part of the human body is the brain. So while your youngster is growing up and developing in dirt bike riding the head needs absolute protection.

In such cases, a good quality helmet comes in handy. Remember not any helmet will do, you must choose one that fits perfectly and cover their full face.

Goggles

While riding a rider must have a clear vision of where they’re going. As you know in a dirt bike ride it’s common to deal with incoming specks of dirt and dust in the road.

To protect your child from the incoming debris they’ll need a pair of goggles. A good quality pair will help your kid to have complete focus on the road.

Gloves

A dirt bike is built for off-road riding and riding a bike off-road needs a firm grip. Otherwise, a rider might lose their balance and fall over.  In such a case, a quality pair of gloves come in handy.

So, good-quality gloves can help your kid to have a firm grip on the dirt bike. Not only it’ll help to have a firm grip but protect their hand from getting bruised.

Footwears

A pair of boots can help shield your little one’s foot while riding a dirt bike. So you can choose a pair of good-quality boots that fits your child perfectly. They’ll definitely help your kid to have better control on the bike.

Elbow, Knee Guard & Body Armor:

Providing your child with protective gears can ease your palpitations. So, get your kid a pair of elbow guards, knee guards, and good body armor to protect your child from every possible harm.

Last Words

As a parent, it’s customary to have a protective intention towards your little one. But it’s also true that you won’t always be around to protect your child. All you can do is prepare your kid to handle any situation right.

In the previous discussion so far, we tried to cover all the basic things you need to know to get started on teaching your kid to ride a dirt bike. Remember to provide him with every possible protective gear mentioned above to ensure your child’s utmost safety.

Kaulig Racing’s Landon Cassill Driving Crypto Mass Adoption with StormX

February 28, 2022 (Lexington, N.C.) – Kaulig Racing and StormX, the leading Crypto Cashback app and Chrome extension have joined forces for five NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) races starting with the Alsco Uniforms 300 this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The team announced earlier this year that as part of Voyager Digital’s primary partnership, it would be teaming up with the Crypto Cashback platform StormX to raise awareness and drive cryptocurrency inclusion for all. As part of this, Landon Cassill, who has been a long-time crypto advocate, will be racing his No.10 Chevrolet, fully branded with the StormX logo and colors.

NASCAR has seen a new wave of crypto partnerships established for the 2022 season, and this movement can be attributed to Cassill’s affinity and knowledge of crypto.

“My family and I make the majority of our purchases online, which is why the crypto cashback rewards with StormX are perfect for us.” said Cassill. “Travel is a huge chunk of my spending, as are hotels, so being able to receive cashback paid in crypto is a huge win, even more so when I factor in my membership bonuses.”

“Landon is no stranger to crypto, it was apparent from our first conversations that for him, it wasn’t about jumping on a bandwagon, but was about the potential it has to revolutionize the way we view personal finance,” said Matthew Chuen, CMO at StormX. “We are excited to be driving crypto inclusion with Landon and the team at Kaulig, and can’t wait to see him sporting the StormX logo on the track”

With two races in the 2022 NXS season under his belt, Cassill and the No.10 Kaulig Racing team will continue their west coast swing this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“Landon (Cassill) is so knowledgeable about crypto and its platforms and the fact that he wants to share his expertise with NASCAR fans by bringing crypto-based partners on board at Kaulig Racing is very exciting”, said Kaulig Racing president, Chris Rice. “I for one am intrigued by the crypto industry and look forward to learning more.”

Prior to Cassill and StormX’s partnership at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 5th for the Alsco Uniforms 300, Cassill is also taking part in StormX’s first ever invitation-only poker tournament at PokerGO’s Studio in Las Vegas, on March 3rd. Landon will join an 81-person strong line-up battling crypto founders, NBA players and poker pros to win a share of the $405k minimum prize pool.

As part of the new partnership, StormX will be the primary partner of the No.10 Chevy at four additional events during the 2022 NXS season at Dover International Speedway, Portland International Raceway, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, and Martinsville Speedway.

St. Petersburg win sets tone for McLaughlin, Penske in 2022 NTT IndyCar Series

Photo by Chris Jones - Scott McLaughlin celebrates his first career NTT IndyCar Series win for Team Penske.

A dominant win for Scott McLaughlin in the 2022 NTT IndyCar Series season opener at St. Petersburg could set the tone for how this season will go for the second-year Team Penske driver, if history is any indicator.

Starting from the pole, McLaughlin led 49 of 100 laps and took the checkered a half-second over defending series champion Alex Palou in his 18th series start after winning Rookie of the Year last season. The three-time Australian V8 Supercar champion won in his first pairing with Team Penske engineer Ben Bretzman, firing the first shot of the season on the road to the championship.

What stands out is McLaughlin’s season-opening win comes after three-straight seasons of champions who won the season-opening event of their championship year. Last season Palou scored his first career win in the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on his way to winning twice more before clinching the season title. Scott Dixon won at Texas in 2020 on the way to clinching yet another title. In 2019, McLaughlin’s Team Penske teammate Josef Newgarden won at St. Peterburg on the way to his second series championship.

McLaughlin has the odds in his favor going into 2022. He’s got a championship legacy with Penske already. He’s with one of the top teams in the garage with Penske and Chevrolet. He’s got a season under his belt, a season that saw him claim top rookie honors and show some maturity behind the wheel near the end of the season, scoring two top-10s in the last four races while finishing 12th and 11th, respectively, in the last two races.

Primarily a road racer thanks to his years in the V8 Supercars, McLaughlin has posted strong runs on both road courses and ovals before Sunday’s win. His best rookie finish was second at Texas in the third race of the season, followed by an eighth during the second day of the Texas double-header. In the fifth race of the year he finished eighth again at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. A fourth at Gateway was followed by a ninth-place finish at the Grand Prix of Portland were all highlights of a season that would be considered as modest by most standards.

Seeing how dominant McLaughlin and his No. 3 team performed on Sunday shows that they’re past being modest and ready to show the aggression needed to perform like he did during his Supercar career. As the youngest and newest member of the Penske IndyCar group, McLaughlin knows he needs to perform to match the championship pedigree of his teammates, Newgarden and Will Power. If Sunday’s performance is any indicator in that case, he won’t have to wait long to deliver another Team Penske championship trophy.

McDowell Runs Inside Top-10 and Gilliland Races Smart Race

Front Row Motorsports (FRM) started their West Coast swing with a 400-mile race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California- the first race at the track in two seasons.

After a strong performance in Daytona, Michael McDowell and the No. 34 Stage Front Tickets Ford Mustang team backed it up with a fast car on Sunday. McDowell was running inside the top-10 in the final laps before mechanical issues under the hood left the team dejected with a 31st-place result.

Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Frontline Enterprises Ford team used consistency to gradually improve positions all afternoon. Gilliland finished 20th at the checkered flag.

MICHAEL MCDOWELL NO. 34 STAGE FRONT TICKETS FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 31

Coming off another top-10 Daytona 500 finish, Michael McDowell and team were ready to tackle the challenge of Auto Club Speedway, as well as the conditions it provided.

Having learned much from practice and qualifying, the team was able to dial in the car going into Sunday’s race. With many drivers having issues during Saturday’s practice and qualifying, McDowell took the time to tune on the Stage Front Ford Mustang’s handling, and translate it into a good starting position.

The Stage Front No. 34 team fought tooth-and-nail all afternoon long, and what started as a methodical day, began to progress forward later in the race. Starting just outside the top 20, McDowell quickly advanced into the top-15. As the stages came and went, so did multiple cautions. This provided an opportunity to refine the car and get it dialed into what the track was giving in return. Fighting with a car that was transitioning between loose and tight, crew chief Blake Harris made exactly the right calls to have McDowell positioned to be a contender in the final stage.

That is when the Stage Front Tickets Ford was at its best. McDowell raced inside the top-10 with 10 to go. Unfortunately, an electrical issue struck, with the car swapping between power and no power. McDowell had to take the car behind the wall and finished 31st.

MCDOWELL ON AUTO CLUB:
“It’s a real shame. The Stage Front Tickets Ford Mustang was lightning quick, and it’s a real bummer we didn’t finish how we should have. We were in such a good spot on the last restart, and the car really took off in the late running. I think we really showed how great this Next Gen car is and how we can compete up there with the top guys, so there is definitely a lot to look forward to.”

TODD GILLILAND NO. 38 FRONTLINE ENTERPRISES FORD MUSTANG. FINISHED 20

Saturday and Sunday were a weekend of firsts for rookie Todd Gilliland. It was his first start at Auto Club, and for the Next Gen car, its first visit to an intermediate track. Having learned much from Saturday practice into qualifying, there was excitement for the driver and team going into Sunday’s race.

Gilliland and the No. 38 team had a strategy for the first two stages- learn the car, click off laps, and work on the handling heading into the final stage. The Frontline Enterprises Ford Mustang team did just that. While the results in the early running didn’t show the speed the car had, the handling became better with each run. What started off tight, ended loose- and loose is fast at an intermediate track.

The final stage, thanks to a couple timely cautions as well as great incident avoidance, Gilliland was able to work his way into the top-20 within 15 laps to go. Pushing the car to its limits and racing hard with some of the earlier top-running competitors, Gilliland was able to finish in the 20th position.

GILLILAND ON AUTO CLUB:
“The entire Frontline Enterprises team worked their tails off all day to get our car at its best at the end. I learned a lot and did everything I could to make the best of the changes we made throughout the race. The whole thing was about not making mistakes while capitalizing on ones made by our competitors, and I think we did just that. I’m glad to leave Auto Club with a top-20 finish, and I really can’t wait to get to Las Vegas and do it all over again next week”

Dakota Dickerson Joins Jr III Racing for Sebring 12 Hours

Mooresville, NC (28 February 2022) – Jr III Racing has set their Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts lineup with the addition of IMSA Champion Dakota Dickerson in the No. 30 Airbnb Ligier JS P320. Dickerson joins Ari Balogh and Garett Grist for the team’s first endurance event of the 2022 season.

Ahead of his IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship debut, the 25-year-old has yielded an impressive resume. Dickerson claimed the top title of Champion in IMSA Prototype Challenge last season with five consecutive podium appearances including a victory at Watkins Glen International. Champion is a familiar title for Dickerson who also held the title in F3 Americas (2019) and F4 United States Championships.

Dickerson brings extensive knowledge of the Ligier platform with 17 starts in the prototype.

“I am excited to be joining Jr III Racing for the Sebring 12 Hours,” said DIckerson. “Being familiar with the Ligier as well as competing against the team, it was an easy yes because I know the quality of the car and the pace are top notch. The 12 Hours of Sebring is the second ever endurance event and third IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship event for Jr III Racing. The team made their first attempt at endurance racing at the 2021 season finale Petit Le Mans. Balogh, Grist and Spencer Pigot combined to take second place after ten hours of racing.

The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts begins Saturday, March 19th at 10:00am ET. Live flag-to-flag coverage of the event will be available on Peacock with coverage on USA Network beginning at 3:30pm ET.

Wise Power 400

Daniel Hemric, No. 16 Poppy Bank Camaro ZL1

Start: 5th
Stage 1 Finish: 35th
Stage 2 Finish: 33rd
Finish: 9th

Quote:

“What a day! I felt like we had a really good car, and we were able to maintain good speed and move forward. Unfortunately, we had an issue with our shifter and lost six laps. I can’t believe we got all of them back and were even able to contend there at the end. I’m super proud of everyone on this No. 16 Poppy Bank Chevy team. My crew chief, Matt Swiderski, and everyone else at Kaulig Racing put together an incredible race car. It was really good and super fast – it was just a matter of being back on the lead lap.”

Justin Haley, No. 31 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Camaro ZL1

Start: 35th
Stage 1 Finish: 14th
Stage 2 Finish: 22nd
Finish: 23rd

Quote:

“Overall, it was a good race. We stayed on the lead lap and raced in the top 15 quite a bit. We made the car better with each stop as the race went on, so l’m proud of everyone the No. 31 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevy team for working hard all day. At the end, we were racing hard for 11th or 12th and made contact with the 12 car. It wasn’t the finish we wanted, and the car is a little torn up, but I’m happy with the performance of the car and the gains we made.”

Production Alliance Group 300

AJ Allmendinger, No. 16 Nutrien Ag Solutions Chevrolet

Start: 1st
Stage 1 Finish: 6th
Stage 2 Finish: 7th
Finish: 7th

Quote:

“We had a really good start to our day getting on the pole – that was really cool for everyone at Kaulig Racing, and it shows we have speed in our race cars. The race was a challenge. We struggled a little with handling issues as the run would go on. We had a loose wheel, which put us way behind, and right as we were going to get the lap back, we got some debris on the grille and had to pit. To be able to rally back for a top-10 finish was big for us and ended up being a good points day. We still have to keep working to be better, but our day could have ended up much worse. I’m proud of everyone at Kaulig Racing for fighting so we could get a decent finish in our No. 16 Nutrien Ag Solutions Chevy.”

Daniel Hemric, No. 11 Poppy Bank Chevrolet

Start: 5th
Stage 1 Finish: 9th
Stage 2 Finish: 6th
Finish: 12th

Quote:

“It was a disappointing day for sure. There were moments when I thought we’d be able to move forward, but we just struggled with speed. We struggled with adjustments on our No. 11 Poppy Bank Chevy, and we were way too loose during the last half of the race. We will work to be better as a team.”

Landon Cassill, No. 10 Carnomaly Chevrolet

Start: 7th
Stage 1 Finish: 38th
Stage 2 Finish: 38th
Finish: 38th

Quote:

“Our day started off so promising in the No. 10 Carnomaly Chevrolet. We had a super fast qualifying run and started the race 7th. Unfortunately, we had a mechanical issue and our car caught on fire. It wasn’t the run we wanted after such a strong qualifying effort. I’m proud of the hard work everyone at Kaulig Racing has been putting in, so hopefully we will rebound next weekend in Las Vegas.”

Petty GMS Race Recap: Auto Club Speedway

Ty Dillon, No. 42 Allegiant Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

START: 18th
FINISH: 17th
POINTS: 17th

Ty Dillon Post-Race Thoughts: “What a great day for Petty GMS as an organization. Erik (Jones) and the No. 43 boys had their car dialed in and got an excellent result. The No. 42 guys and I capitalized and executed to end up with a solid finish. After not running a mile and a half track in the Cup Series in almost two years, I’ll take 17th. Our Allegiant Chevrolet struggled over the bumps today and I lacked the security on entry that I was looking for. But Jerame (Donley, crew chief) and the guys kept working on it all day, the pit crew had consistent, mistake free stops, and we gave it our all. We know areas that we can improve in also, which will only make us better as we move forward this season. Proud of the effort and our team.”

Erik Jones, No. 43 FOCUSfactor Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

START: 2nd
FINISH: 3rd
POINTS: 6th

Erik Jones Post-Race Thoughts: “It was good race. It feels good to be interviewed after the race, too. It’s awesome, but it’s also frustrating. You’re that close and you have a car that you feel like can do it. The No. 43 FOCUSfactor Chevrolet definitely had it today. It was a matter of getting up front and taking advantage of clean air, and we did that a couple of times. A couple restarts just didn’t go our way. I probably could have done a better job here and there, and it just didn’t add up. I just haven’t raced up front a lot in the last year and a half. There are some things I need to be better at. Hopefully I have a lot of time to work on that. We want to keep running upfront and if we keep doing that, we’re going to win some races. I’m really proud of this whole Petty GMS group.”

Team Penske NASCAR Cup Series Race Report – Auto Club

Team Penske NASCAR Cup Series Race Recap
Track: Auto Club Speedway
Race: WISE Power 400
Date: February 27, 2022

No. 2 Menards/Quaker Ford Mustang – Austin Cindric

Start: 1st
Race Finish: 12th
Stage 1 Finish: 9th
Stage 2 Finish: 7th
Laps Led: 0
Point Standings: 1st (+8 pts)

Race Rundown: After winning his first NASCAR Cup Series pole position Saturday, Austin Cindric started first and finished 12th Sunday after an eventful day at Auto Club Speedway. One week after his historic victory in the Daytona 500, Cindric and the Menards/Quaker State Ford Mustang team collected points in both of the first two stages of Sunday’s race. Cindric recovered from slight damage to the No. 2 Ford as a result of a lap 159 incident and a challenging final pit stop as he brought home a top-15 finish. Cindric remains the Cup Series point leader with two rounds complete as he carries an eight-point advantage over teammate Joey Logano.

Cindric’s Thoughts: “It was a really solid day in our Menards/Quaker State Ford Mustang getting points in both stages and being a contender in the top-10 the entire race. I felt like I was a bit married to the top lane. I will have to understand why that is and look over how I can be better on the bottom and do a better job on the restarts. It wasn’t our day as far as being involved the wrong things and even recovered back to the top-10 and got a wheel stuck on. We have some things to clean up, but it was overall a solid performance, and it was good to be in the top-10 all day.”

No. 12 WURTH Ford Mustang – Ryan Blaney

Start: 6th
Race Finish: 18th
Stage 1 Finish: 8th
Stage 2 Finish: 4th
Laps Led: 1
Point Standings: 4th (-15 pts)

Race Rundown: Driving the No. 12 WURTH Ford Mustang, Ryan Blaney started sixth and finished 18th in Sunday afternoon’s 400-mile race at Auto Club Speedway. Blaney showed tremendous pace all afternoon in the No. 12 Ford, but issues on pit lane plagued the team for the majority of the race as the team battled to get the right rear tire off the car during pit stops. Despite the challenges, Blaney was able to run inside the top-10 for most of Sunday’s race. A late pit stop resulted in the No. 12 WURTH Ford falling back in the field just prior to the finish, and Blaney ran out of time to make up ground as he finished 18th.

Blaney’s Thoughts: “We had really good speed today in our No. 12 WURTH Ford. It felt like the balance was pretty good and we were able to make our way through the field. Unfortunately, we’re still learning on the setup stuff and how that impacts the ability to get the wheel off quickly during a pit stop. We’ll learn from it and go to Vegas next week and hopefully carry over the speed we had today.”

No. 22 Auto Club of Southern California Ford Mustang – Joey Logano

Start: 7th
Race Finish: 5th
Stage 1 Finish: 7th
Stage 2 Finish: 3rd
Laps Led: 14
Point Standings: 2nd (-8 pts)

Race Rundown: Following an incident in qualifying, Joey Logano surrendered his scheduled seventh place starting spot in Sunday’s 400-mile race at Auto Club Speedway as he started at the rear of the field. Logano wasted little time moving forward in the No. 22 Auto Club Ford Mustang as he raced his way up to the 14th position by lap five. The No. 22 Ford team and Logano raced inside the top 10 and led for 14 laps before ultimately finishing in the fifth position.

Logano’s Thoughts: “The guys did a great job of getting the car fixed after I wrecked in qualifying and we were fast right off the get-go. We were okay. The short runs weren’t really our cup of tea with our Auto Club Mustang here. We had a shot there at the end though going down the backstretch two-wide and I thought it was my chance. Overall, coming here with big challenges and wrecking the car in qualifying and the guys fixing it and giving us a shot at the win, you have to be proud of that effort. We learned a lot and there is a lot more to get better at. Nobody is really good, that is what I figured out today. Nobody is good. We have work to do.”

Keselowski Runs Strong in Top-10, Caught Up in Late Accident to Finish 27th

No. 6 Violet Defense Team Battles Inside Top-10 for Much of 400-Mile Afternoon

FONTANA, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2022) – Brad Keselowski spent a good portion of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Fontana inside the top-10 and was poised for a late comeback, but contact with less than 50 laps to go set him back and off the lead lap, something he was not able to overcome, to finish 27th.

The weekend for Keselowski got off to a great start in Saturday’s practice and qualifying, as the Michigan native put his No. 6 Ford second in the first group of qualifying. He ultimately was ninth-fastest overall after advancing to the final round, but a spun and resulting repairs put him at the rear of the field to start Sunday’s race.

Keselowski battled his way to just outside the top-10 as stage one ended, where he ran 12th at the time. He began the second 65-lap segment inside the top-10 at eighth, and was inside the top five late in the stage before spinning on a restart.

Despite the mishap, the 2012 Cup Champion began his fight back, charging his way back inside the top-10 some 30 laps later. He was moving through the back half of the top-10 with just over 40 to go when contact with the No. 23 sent him spinning, ultimately causing flat tires that put him on the wrecker, limping his machine back to pit road. Because of the lengthy trip back to the pits, Keselowski lost three laps to the leaders.

Despite a pair of late-race cautions, Keselowski was able to gain only one lap back and finished 27th.

The West Coast swing heads next to Las Vegas, where the Cup Series visits Las Vegas Motor Speedway for a 400-mile event Sunday afternoon. The race is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX, PRN and SiriusXM.
