Era Motorsport Hungry for Repeat Rolex 24 Win

DAYTONA, Fla., (January 25, 2022) – With the Roar Before the 24 complete, all eyes at Era Motorsport are focused forward on this week’s main event: the 60th Rolex 24 At Daytona. The 2021 LMP2 class winners are looking for a repeat win in the No. 18 Oreca, driven by Dwight Merriman, Ryan Dalziel, Kyle Tilley, and Paul-Loup Chatin. Era Motorsport is one of three cars on the 2022 entry list where all drivers hold wins at the famed event.

The Indianapolis-based squad took full advantage of the three-day test at Daytona International Speedway last week, gaining valuable track time and opportunities to further develop their machinery. This marked the second year that the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship followed a newer qualifying format, offering a 100-minute race where the results of which would set the grid for this week’s Rolex 24 At Daytona.

While Era Motorsport had a strong speed in testing, a drive-plug issue during Dwight Merriman’s opening stint put the car far down the charts, without any hope of getting pole position. Determined to make the best of the situation, the team put secondary driver Paul-Loup Chatin behind the wheel and finished the car’s fuel load, gaining additional data and experience on track.

In 2021, Era Motorsport ran a clean and consistent race in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, starting third in the LMP2 class and tenth overall. The team focused on keeping the car clear from contact, running speedy lap times, but avoiding unnecessary risk. The strategy remained resolute into the night, and once morning arrived, the drivers, engineers, and crew rolled up their sleeves to dig in and fight to the end. As the race clock crept closer to the 24-hour mark, Era Motorsport closed the gap on the Tower Motorsports car, and with the stronger fuel strategy, outlasted the competition to take the lead in the final 30 minutes. Paul-Loup Chatin drove to the checker flag, earning the team’s first win in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. To make the win even more special, the team was sporting a livery designed by a six-year-old race fan, who will be present at this year’s race to cheer on the squad once again after attending the 2021 season finale at Petit Le Mans.

With a full-capacity field of 61 cars across five classes, steering clear of contact in order to be present to again fight in the end will reamin the focus of Era Motorsport, and likely the rest of the field. Last week’s qualifying race gave participants and fans a glimpse of what may be in store for the 24 hours of racing on Saturday. Multi-class traffic proved to be a stronger challenge than normal in the opening laps, with every competitor heavily vying for position cross Daytona International Speedway’s 3.87-mile road course.

With qualifying out of the way, race week will be filled with only practice sessions, giving competitors four separate sessions to continue to improve race craft and car balance before the race goes green on Saturday, January 29 at 1:40 pm Eastern. The race will stream live in its entirety on Peacock, NBC Universal’s online streaming platform. On U.S. television, the race will start live on NBC before airing select blocks live on USA. International audiences can visit IMSA’s international coverage page to find local listings.

DRIVER QUOTES
Dwight Merriman
We have assembled a great team and are well prepared after all their hard work. I’m very excited for the race and can’t wait for the green flag.

Ryan Dalziel
We rolled off the truck with a solid car and chipped away each session to slowly find speed. By Sunday’s race, we were a top-three or four car speed-wise, so I feel really good about where we will start the race weekend. The team is very much the same group as last year so having that continuity puts us in a great position to defend our Rolex 24 title.

Kyle Tilley
I’m very excited to get started this coming week! We worked hard during the Roar to have a car that was easy to drive over a long stint. The crew and engineers have been flawless so I think it’s all looking good! As with any 24-hour race the important thing will be to minimise any mistakes and focus on traffic management

Paul-Loup Chatin
I am really happy about the work we all did during the Roar. We have still some small details to adjust but I am confident for the big one. Like always, the goal will be to do our own race and to see where we are for the finals hours and to put it all together at the end to try to grab a second win in a row.

About Era Motorsport
Era Motorsport was formed in 2018 with the idea of providing unmatched excellence in historic racing. Just two years later, the team expanded to the world of professional sports car racing, fielding an Oreca 07 in the prolific IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2021, the team went on to win at the iconic Rolex 24 At Daytona, in what was their second attempt competing in the event. Motorsport isn’t just a hobby, it is a way of life: a passion that is in the team’s blood. Whether you find us in the IMSA WeatherTech paddock with modern prototypes or chasing down lap records in our fully restored classic sports cars, or even globetrotting to experience historic F1 at some of the world’s most iconic circuits, Era Motorsport has something for everyone. In 2021, the team secured a prestigious victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and also became class champions in the Asian Le Mans Series.

RISI COMPETIZIONE SETS UP NEW FERRARI 488 EVO FOR 2022 ROLEX 24 AT DAYTONA DURING ROAR ACTIVITIES

Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo No. 62:
James Calado (GBR)
Alessandro Pier Guidi (ITA)
Davide Rigon (ITA)
Daniel Serra (BRA)

(Houston, Texas, January 24, 2022)…The Houston, Tex.-based Risi Competizione Ferrari team took their brand-new Ferrari 488 EVO to the track during the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Roar Before the 24 activities this past weekend in preparation for the 60th annual Rolex 24 At Daytona.

IMSA started the 2022 season on the 3.56-mile (5.73 km), 12-turn Daytona International Speedway road course with a jam-packed field of 61 entries, including 13 in the newly formed GTD Pro class, which replaces GTLM.

The No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo completed the Roar Before the 24 this past weekend with its impressive line-up of Ferrari factory GT drivers, James Calado of Worcester, UK, Alessandro Pier Guidi of Tortona, Italy, Davide Rigon of Thiene, Italy and Daniel Serra of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

(L-R) Risi Competizione drivers: Daniel Serra, James Calado, Davide Rigon and Alessandro Pier Guidi
Rigon qualified fifth in class for the Sunday, January 23 Daytona qualifying race but had an unanticipated drive train issue that had them start the race from the back of the field. In the end, he and Serra finished 11th in GTD Pro and thus will start the IMSA season opener Rolex 24 At Daytona endurance race this Saturday, January 29 from deep in the GT field, along with their two other co-pilots, Calado, and Pier Guidi.

Risi Competizione will be making the team’s 20th entry in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, with one of those a class victory in 2002. The Risi team will once again be the only Ferrari at The World Center of Racing’s twice-around-the-clock endurance race in its class.

The quad of Ferrari Competizioni GT factory drivers combines for a total of 29 Rolex 24 At Daytona starts. Calado will be starting his seventh Rolex 24 race, six of those with Risi and four finishes in the Top 5. Pier Guidi will be making his ninth Daytona 24-hour appearance, four previous with Risi, and the only current Risi driver with a GTD class victory (2014). Rigon will also be making his ninth Rolex appearance and seventh times with the Risi team. Serra will be making his eighth appearance and second with Risi.

The Risi Competizione team has been on the Daytona 24-hour podium on five occasions, most recently in 2019 with a second-place finish. Their class victory came in 2002. The other second-place finishes were in 1999 and 2003 and a third-place class finish in 2017.

Rick Mayer, Risi Competizione Race Engineer:
“All the drivers were happy with the car during the Roar sessions. We went through a run program just to make sure everyone had laps and that ergonomics are correct. We made a few set-up changes. I think we’re in a good window for the event start and we’re cautiously optimistic that we’ll do well this year.

“We’re glad to have these four drivers back – Ale, James, Davide and Daniel are all pros and know how to drive fast and how to keep a car for an endurance race.”

Davide Rigon, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“Our practice sessions this weekend went well. And Saturday I did the qualifying in half wet and half dry conditions. We finished P5 and were quite happy. Sunday morning we had some drive train issues so we fixed it and didn’t go out for the warm-up and started the qualifying race from the last position. Starting from the back was difficult to overtake with the large field. We were missing some speed on the straight-line and we need to work a little more on the balance of the car. The pit stop and driver change went very well, and we gained another position.

“So now the team will continue to prepare for the long race. I’m glad to have the driver line-up we have again and always happy to be back racing with the Risi Competizione team. Our goal, as always, is to fight for the victory.”

Daniel Serra, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“I think we have enough data to study and see where we can improve for the race. I think the Roar was a few good days of testing and each of the drivers could produce a few good laps. It was also important that we worked together with the Risi team since it was a whole year since we all worked together. I think it was a productive a few days here and now it’s time to see where we can improve for the race next week.”

James Calado, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“The Roar is not really relevant for the 24-hour race but it’s good. We were at the back of the grid due to some issues before the start of the qualifying race, but our main goal was to get some laps, make sure the car was okay and to improve the reliability because it’s a brand-new car. We think we’re fine for the race and we’ll see next week. We don’t know what the others are doing, as usual. Historically we’ve never really performed as well in Daytona but we’re all staying positive, and we’ll see where we are at the end of 24 hours next Sunday.”

Alessandro Pier Guidi, driver No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo:
“It was good to get some laps in and work on the set-up of the car with the team. In terms of balance and the work we did at the Roar was quite positive. We are happy with the car, even if we are not the strongest in terms of performance with the current BoP (balance of performance) and we are trying to manage some of the issues we had. It’s a new car so that was important in order to be ready for the race next weekend.

Davide and Daniel did the Roar qualifying race. There is more traffic this year with 61 cars and a larger class than in past year with the new GTD Pro class and with many manufacturers. It should be an exciting race for the fans. For the drivers passing will be more difficult for sure.”

Sponsors for the 2022 season for Risi Competizione for the Rolex 24 include Pennzoil, Ferrari of Houston, 1st Phorm, Michelin, OMP Racing and Rotiform.

Three practice sessions take place Thursday, January 27, 11:05 a.m.-12:35 p.m. (all classes), 1:00-2:15 p.m. (GTD Pro and DPi classes) and night practice from 7:15-9:00 p.m. (all classes). Friday will feature a morning practice session from 11:20 a.m. for one hour (all classes). The race starts at 1:40 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 29 and runs for 24 hours.

Signs Of Your Engine Need An Oil Change?

Photo by Mathias P.R. Reding from Pexels

Some people need a cup of coffee in the morning to start their day, some people need a good workout in the morning to have a good day while some people need a hearty breakfast to start their day. Just as we all need something or other in order to travel, so does your car.

You may think that your car already needs fuel – either petrol, diesel, or CNG for it to work, what else does your car need? Let us tell you, it is engine oil.

What Does Engine Oil Do?

Our cars burn both gas and oil in the combustion chamber. While the oil enters the chamber and burns near the fuel. The engine structure of your car, along with your driving style, affects how much fuel your car consumes.

Engine oil flows continuously throughout the combustion chamber while your car is running. As a result, some oil enters the chamber. Oil is allowed to enter the circuits around the piston and the valves in the engines. This is where engine oil does most of its work.

Your engine is made up of thousands of medium and small parts like heads, type cylinder liners. Engine oil is needed to lubricate the exhaust valves as they are exposed to very high temperatures. The high-pressure fumes created here may damage or decompose in oil.

The smallest gap between the bearings and the moving parts of the crankshaft is also lubricated with engine oil. Because metal parts should never come into direct contact with your engine, a thin layer of oil is needed to maintain and extend the life of these components.

Why Do I Need To Change My Engine Oil?

The oil in your engine ends up running out, breaking, and getting dirty as you drive your car. As a result, it becomes less efficient in absorbing heat and lubricating vital parts of your engine. When you drive your car with crude oil, the parts begin to grind together. This causes damage, noise, and an increase in temperature, all of which can lead to serious problems if not repaired immediately.

A standard oil change system is one of the basic steps that any car needs to make it work. However, because oil changes are relatively easy and are not usually required for months at a time, some drivers may postpone or even neglect the job.

Additionally, if your car is getting old, miles uphill, or if you are traveling in extreme weather, you may need regular oil changes. You can wait a very long time between oil changes, even if you are completely off schedule, because the need for an oil change may change over time.

So, how can you tell if it is too long since you have changed your oil? In this article, we will take a look at the signs that you should take your car to a car dealership to change your oil.

  1. Extra Vehicle Exhaust

Modern cars usually do not emit visible smoke, so if you see what appears to be smoke following your car, it may indicate a serious problem. Excessive exhaust is usually a sign that the engine oil is too old to operate properly. Exhaust replacement may also indicate engine problems such as damaged gaskets, so this sign should be checked immediately.

  1. Expand Sound Engine

Parts of your engine are lubricated with motor oil, allowing them to work together smoothly. You may feel the problem every time you drive if the fuel is thin, old, or poorly built.

  1. Level Of Oil might Have Dropped

While you can add oil changes, you should keep an eye on the reservoir level. If you have not changed your oil in a long time, oil levels may be slightly lower.

If you see a low oil level, service your car as soon as possible. Especially in hot weather, driving with very low oil levels can cause further engine damage and increase the chances of a crash or breakdown.

  1. Extended Mile

If you have just returned from a long road trip or a long business trip, you should get your car service immediately. You can expect to have oil changes faster than usual if you put too many miles in your car.

  1. The Sound Of The Ticking  At The Beginning

When you start your car, the engine starts to spin oil right away. This operation may be time-consuming and may require additional work if the engine oil is in poor condition. You may hear a locking noise when your engine is hot in this situation. This noise is caused by valves trying to transport oil efficiently.

Conclusion

If you notice these signs, this means that your car is telling you to change the engine oil and it is time to listen to it. Check out for the various parts of the engine, be it the cylindrical liners or the cylindrical sleeves and try finding the root cause. Stay safe, drive happy !!

How Do I Reset the Service Tire Monitor System?

Have you driven with low air pressure in one or more of your tires? If so, you need to reset the system once your tire gets inflated. In this post, we show you how.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System is also known as TPMS. It appears on your vehicle’s dashboard with a warning light every time its tires get irregularly inflated.

The light could also indicate that your tire pressure is too low or that the TPMS isn’t recalibrated right.

Before we delve into resting the service tire monitor system, you need to understand your car’s monitoring system type.

There’re two primary types of TPM; direct and indirect TPMS. The former has sensors located on the tire’s rim or pressure valves.

They collect information and send it to your car’s onboard computer. Bad weather conditions are mostly the cause of direct TPMS malfunction.

For the indirect TPMS, the sensors are placed on the car’s speed sensors or the ABS brakes on each wheel. These help to identify changes as underinflated tires rotate faster than regular filled tires. The sensors also measure the wheel rotation speeds.

Resetting the TPMS

Even though resetting the TPMS varies from car to car, some of the techniques to consider include:

  1. Ensuring you have the correct pressure

Before resting your TPMS light, ensure your vehicle has the correct tire pressure. A tire pressure gauge can help you with this.

You can inflate each tire to its ideal PSI. And then deflate them to zero.

Then, inflate them again and drive for a few minutes at around 15 mph to calibrate the sensors manually.

  1. Use your car’s TPMS Reset Button.

Most vehicles with direct TPMS come with a reset button located under the steering wheel, and you can re-calibrate the sensors if you wish.

Depending on your car’s model, the buttons are in varying locations. Be sure to check the manual.

Put your car key in the ignition and turn on the battery without starting the car. Then, push the reset button for a few seconds or until the system’s light begins to blink.

Start the car and drive for about twenty minutes, then turn off its ignition. However, some vehicles have a reset on the menu.

  1. Check your battery

If your car relies on the battery to power the sensor, ensure it’s not dead. Aim to replace your battery every five years. Sometimes, this requires replacing the whole sensor unit with an in-built battery.

  1. Recalibrate the transponders

Every wheel has its transponder. And rotating the wheels changes the location of each of these.

That means that the TPMS must learn their new locations. The relearning procedure varies from vehicle to vehicle.

  1. Remove and reconnect your car battery.

Your car has an onboard computer that may face glitches from time to time.

The ideal way to fix these is by resting your computer, which can be done by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Final thoughts

If the above techniques do not work, it may mean that your car’s sensors may have been damaged and need replacement. These can happen for several reasons, such as brake repairing, filter change, oil change, or even during regular service. However, reliable and certified car technicians, such as stillwater tire service, can make all the difference. Besides a variety of tire services, you can enjoy tire maintenance and safety all around.

What Are The Best Alternatives of $1 Deposit Casinos for You?

As attractive as $1 deposit casino promotions are, they are definitely limited. And, combined with the restrictions on sister sites, it might be time-consuming, or even outright impossible, to make use of most of them.

The good news is that in the domain of gambling sites, similar offers are always close by; it’s just a matter of finding them. One substitute is $5 deposit casinos, an option that keeps the same features, changes spending just a bit, and works in a very similar fashion.

When you choose a $5 deposit casino site, you sign up with a new account and, with the card or e-wallet of your choice, you make the necessary payment and start using the products presented to you. One advantage is that, more often than not, these websites will greet you with a welcome bonus, so you can have a higher sum to play with at first (a total of your deposit and the bonus cash received). Terms apply, as always, but generally speaking, we couldn’t find any major differences in the rules for such opportunities, so once you’ve read the T&Cs, you’re good to go.

Choosing Your 1$ Deposit Casino in New Zealand

While $1 may not seem much, playing in an online casino often involves sharing sensitive personal data and information. You, therefore, want to make sure that your money and data are secure. When scouring for a $1 deposit free spins NZ casino, ensure that the casino has all the relevant licences and safeguards that protect players.

Most casinos have a raft of inducements for new players. Taking advantage of these is a smart move that might see you win good winnings on minimum investment.  Among the welcome package that you need to take into consideration for Kiwi casinos are;

  • Welcome Bonus: A new player is often offered a certain amount of cash which they can access on opening an account. This cash bonus is usually tied to the initial deposit that a new player deposits in their account. The welcome bonus often has conditions that have to be met for the bonus winnings to be withdrawn.
  • Free Spins:  lovers of pokies can often look forward to free spins on popular reels. The number of free spins will vary from casino to casino. In addition, there could be conditions set on how the free spins should be played and cashed out.
  • No deposit bonus: Some casinos offer welcome goodies to new players that do not require a deposit. Once the new player has opened an account, they are automatically eligible for free spins and a small account of cash as part of the welcome package.
  • Ongoing promotions: most casinos have regular promotions that are set up on a weekly or even monthly basis. As a new player, you should check out what your favorite online $1 deposit NZ casino has to offer in promotions.
  • Loyalty Programme: does a casino value its clients? The answer lies in the loyalty program in place that rewards dedicated players. The rewards could be in cash, free spins, or other goodies.
  • Quality of Software: a casino is only as good as the games it provides to its customers. One of the ways to identify quality in a casino is to check who provides their software. If their games are provided by some of the biggest and most trusted names in the industry, then you can be sure you will have a worthwhile experience.

Conclusion

Playing at 1 dollar deposit casinos can be a hugely rewarding experience for a player who does not wish to put down a hefty deposit. The casinos above have some of the most attractive welcome bonuses for new Kiwi players.  Moreover, they have the requisite licences to assure players of the security of their data as well as financial transactions on their respective websites.

Hopefully, with this review, you can try out the $1 deposit casino NZ that best matches the type of games you love. Also, make sure you read the wagering requirements that may be attached to collecting your winnings. Next, choose your preferred $1 deposit method and you will be good to go. Happy hunting!
